canine extraction site is the only troublesome extraction I've ever had

To anyone who might know,
I had an upper canine extracted on Monday, (along with the premolar next to it), and I'm still in pain.  All my other extractions felt better the next day, but this one is a BUGGER!!!  Has anyone else notice canines hurting more?  The extraction procedure was unusually tough, the dentist had to give me tons of novocaine and even then, it was still uncomfortable.
Also, my dentist doesn't give gas or put people to sleep for extractions.  On the 20th, I'm having the rest of my teeth pulled, and I'm a nervous wreck.  Does anyone have experience with oral sedatives?  I have some tramadol the dentist gave me for pain, and I'm going to ask him if I can take one before the extractions, because it does relax me a lot.  Any experiences from others would be great to hear.  Many thanks!!!

I had halcion. Honestly it didn’t do much for me. Most, however, do go to sleep. It really depends on the person. Sedative and anxiety meds don’t work well for me, but will put my wife into a very deep sleep

Yeah, my husband and I also have differing reactions to drugs.  I don't even need to be asleep, I just need to be more relaxed.  I know my nervousness only makes the whole thing worse for the dentist and for myself.  My heart pounding and palms sweating does not help, lol.

Thank you, reminding me of how quickly it'll be over really helps!  :)

Gets better every day. There will be some challenges and frustrations, but there will also be little victories along the way.

I don’t get my permanents until November. I’m so ready to have a little stability without the everyday changes

Everyone is different. All mine in the front, including canines, healed really quickly.
