Linda, I am also on day 5. My pain is not almost unbearable, however I probably think that your level of pain at this point is not uncommon either. You might want to check with your dentist just to be safe. Are you doing frequent salt rinses? That will really help immensely with the healing and are you also allowing your gums time to rest by removing the dentures for a few hours or overnight? I found that has really helped me manage my pain going forward. Don't let the pain meds wear off either. The pain just creates unnecessary anxiety which works against your body's ability to self heal.

I'd like to hear other opinions on this as well to help you more.

I took Motrin the first week which really helped ALOT with pain. My problem is that I can't keep the upper to stay in. Dentist says its cause I have ALOT of bone loss. He took Xrays before the extractions so you think he would have seen the severity of the bone loss. I had 13 taken out too. He left two lower ones in as anchor teeth even though I asked him to just take them all out. He used my old partial and added teeth to replace the ones that he pulled. Paid a total of 5100 and have no insurance. He seems to get pissed off at me every time I go in to see him for adjustments. So frustrated!!

they will probably be sick of me too but this is crazy and motrin isn't helping and the script makes me sick in my stomach. I don't consider myself a baby but I've shed more than a few tears over this?

Oh my gosh! I feel for you both! Jani, for $5,100 bucks he better have his door wide open whenever you need to go! His job is not finished just because you got the denture. You keep going as often as you need to! :) I hope it gets better for you.

Linda, I had a steady diet of 1200 mg of Ibuprofin (Motrin) every 4 hours for 3 days. Bearing in mind, I am no lightweight and really pain averse. How much have you been taking?

Jani, hopefully your dentist can help you feel more comfortable. Keep us posted OK? Good luck!

Linda, how are you doing today? Better I hope.

I had to pull out my dremel today and do some adjusting of my own as my dentist was not in today. I'll let her do the tricky stuff tomorrow.

Heather....I gooped up my top denture because I think he doesn't believe that I am wearing all day since he trimmed the back that felt like it was going down my throat!! Actually he didn't even look inside my mouth and told me to come back in two months for another mold cause he thinks I need a new uppper but I need time for healing.

Jani, if you need adjusting do not wait 2 months. Your mouth is going to change daily. I just don't want you to suffer needlessly.

From my perception, each of us are different. As such what you may experience is different than what I felt. Best advise is to see your dentist.

I had 6 upper teeth out in June and  temporary denture fitted and suffered no pain, Yesterday i had 6 lower teeth out and temporary denture fitted, I am in agony on the left side, it feels like the denture is rubbing on the side of my mouth, It will have to be realigned when my pain goes.
