Day 8 after soft reline.

  • Question
  • Updated 1 month ago
It's been 8 days since my first soft reline. It's been so nice without adhesive, but alas, I think the time is up. Not really holding up without it today. Even a drink of water cause it to drop. I could see it coming yesterday.
Question is, how much damage will I do to the liner if I use powder adhesive this soon after? Not that I really have a choice.

Hey there... I used powder the next day with no visible change to the reline. Do whatcha gotta do.....
I understand your situation with getting in to see your dentist is a bit challenging; but I don't think it will cause any problems.

Thanks. I was a bit concerned because, as you said, it’s difficult for me to get an appointment. Since the last one involved refund threats, they actually scheduled me back today. That will let me show them what I’m working with right now. I can still wear my top without adhesive, as long as I have no food or drink. That’s pretty hard to do though.

At the dentist now. My appt is in 5 minutes. Let’s hope they are on schedule this time. Last time was less than stellar, at almost an hour behind. In the lobby with ten others. This place isn’t that big and seating is, tight...

Nope. This is as good as it gets I guess. Sucks the re-reline didn’t work out. That’s what took so long. First was bad. Waaaay off center. 2nd try was all ragged when it was done. Third time wasn’t perfect, but they feel pretty good. I’m very tired. 3 hours at the dentist is not fun

I’ve noticed that after the 3 relines yesterday my bottom gums seem swelled in my back right side. Could it be from maybe clenching my teeth too much during all that? I felt it yesterday. Feels like my back teeth are hitting too hard on that side. They did a bite test and all looked good. I took my partial out early, left it out all night. Still feels the same this morning

It may be from all the "work" that was done in there. TGIF! Give it a rest when you get home if you can. Yea 3 hrs is a long time at the Dentist. :/

I’m just glad they wanted to do the work to make it right. I took ibuprofen and it feels better. Also, they removed the adhesive on the bottom, so it rubbed EVERYWHERE for those 3 hours. That spot may have been slightly more abused than surrounding areas

That’s my plan. Salt water and no partial tonight. As for now, the ibuprofen seems to have done the trick. I feel pretty good.

I also have quite a few bone spurs. They aren’t worried about it right now. They said sometimes they take care of themselves. I hope so. I really don’t want the set back that comes with another surgery and bone grinding. Nothing at all sounds good about that.

Some people use tweezers. It may just fall out on its own. Hopefully you will be lucky and it will. That would be the easy way right? Doesn't seem like things are that easy in life though.

Awee. Yea I don't have much luck either with things. Hey! I've never really recommended this on here or at work but I wonder if fall off the bone ribs would be edible? One would just have to be very careful not to bite the bone and if they don't fall off easy what about cutting the meat off or using a fork to tear it off? Hmmmm.

Ah, ribs are no problem. The only thing I haven’t really tried is steak. I was kinda worried about sushi (you are supposed to eat in one bite). US sushi is considerably larger than in Japan. Guess I’ve got a big mouth, as i can eat a whole piece without issue.

With enough adhesive I could eat a cow I’m sure.

Haha! You so funny. :p I tried sushi twice so far. My hubby made me try it as I enjoy the rolls. It was pretty good but I still prefer the rolls. I've tried to use the sticks but just can't get it. Maybe it's the Italian in me. Lmao! I don't care I eat the rolls with a fork and I've only experienced eating them in restaurants here so the fork doesn't last as the rolls are big and I use my hands. I don't Kerr!!!! I want to eat! Lol. Oh yea no....no steak yet unless you want to try small bites? We never recommend to try eating that right away. Maybe you're ready for the steak task?? Small pieces and take your time bud. Not sure what time it is there but you may do what you did last time and drop the computer and run out to grab some. Lmao. :)

Have no shame.
On my last trip to Japan my partner had to ask for a fork. All they had were Snoopy baby forks. He ate proudly and shamelessly. With the Snoopy fork.

New reline is already loose! I guess that means my healing is still going well. I could use a little powder on top, but honestly I can’t get it out of my head that I’ll ruin the liner with it.

Powder cleans really easily. I was more concerned with getting it out. I would assume some warm water for a while would break it down after 16 plus hours of use

Today sucked. It was a day where I felt less than human. It’s tough getting caught at work unable to eat or drink. Or, talk to people. I was very close to an embarrassing incident 3 times today. Left side of my top plate dropped completely off while I was talking. Luckily, it happened at the end of a sentence twice and wasn’t noticed. The third time, I played it off as getting strangled. This is one of the downs when you talk about the ups and downs. Gotta keep moving forward though.

Awee man. Keep your head up. You will get there. Maybe the adhesive you're using isn't strong enough? Or I wonder how well of a job they're doing with the Tissue Conditioner. :( Don't give up. Keep on truckin'.

Thanks. I got this. It was my fault today. I didn’t go with my gut and use any adhesive. So I got what I asked for lol. Tomorrow i will definitely have to use it. This time, the liner looks pretty good. Cosmetically anyway. Functionally i can’t really say. I think it’s weird to know my gums have shrank any at all in just a few days, but with the liner in I can tell they have.
I need to not worry about what I can and shouldn’t do with it, and do what I need to do to carry on normally. I would be better off for it.

Still doing pretty well. I have a respiratory infection, so I did very little over the weekend.
I still haven’t gained my weight back. Actually I’m still losing. So far I am down from 160 lbs on surgery day to 133 lbs. Not sure what’s up with that. Just done feel healthy.
On a good note, I’m not even thinking about my bottom partial anymore. No more aware of it than I am of my socks.
The upper is doing well too, but I’m very aware of it. Every day I feel like it’s loose, then at night I need a crowbar to get it out lol! Not sure why I’m so sensitive to it. Maybe I need some hypnosis??

Hey Charlie, glad to hear the bottoms are good, I can so relate to the upper challenge, tomorrow I'm going for a reline, hopefully my last, will make an appointment for my permanent process...I'm sooo done with these immediates.
Your continued weight loss seems somewhat concerning. I wish I had the same problem though, I've only lost a total of 25..lol

Hey Chucky. How you feeling? I noticed you mentioned you're still losing weight. Unfortunately everyone is a bit different through their journey and some can lose weight for awhile. Grrr. Thank you. I’m slowly feeling better. I eat everything really. Still haven’t tried steak. I’m too cheap to buy and not be able to eat. I think maybe I’m just not eating as much?? Some days are easy, some days it’s really hard to eat. I’m not really at a healthy weight anymore. That kinda worries me.

Here’s a question for you. I’ve noticed in the last few days I feel a lot of forward pressure (toward my lips) when saying words like, walk, talk, call, etc.
it feels like my tongue is hitting the back and pushing it forward. It feels pretty awkward, and has tripped me up a little in conversations. Ideas?

Do you feel pain? I'm trying to understand what you're saying. Is it like when you say the letter "L"?

Not pain. More like pressure. Letter L is fine. “LK” is where it happens. Another example is Texas.

Image result for palatine rugae

I really think it's the motion of your tongue when it hits the Palatine rugae area of the denture. That's why I thought the "L" would be an issue. If this makes sense and that's where you feel like it's happening then you should ask to them to "relieve" (adjust) that area for you. Ask them to put pressure indicating paste in your mouth and say those words. When they take your denture out it will show with that paste in where they need to adjust it.

Yes your right about that...but being there and supportive can be exhausting as well. I was taking care if my mother in law for about 2 years first with kidney/bladder cancer and then she had a fall and fractured her hip. So i have complete empathy for your situation. (My circumstances I'm sure are different than yours, we lived with her).
