Dentures in immediately after teeth pulled vs wait for gums to heal???

All of the dentists I've spoken to want to put the dental plates in as soon as the teeth are pulled, but is it better to wait?? Have to have this done in the immediate future and very scared. Also am very skinny, really concerned about more weight loss due to not being able to eat!

Well Marilyn, .... the ''temporary'' dentures will also act as a bandage for your gums after the extractions too, you may have stitches on your gums ... plus, you won't be ''TOOTHLESS'' for months either.. It does take several months for your gums to ''shrink'' & heal completely... You'll have a great smile too!..So, I say, Get them IMMEDIATELY.. . Yep, you'll be on ''soft foods'' for a few weeks, approx. 3 weeks, depending on how well you're adapting... Eat soft foods like mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, mashed peas, oatmeal, pudding, smoothies, pancakes, etc.. You'll experiment with ''chewing'' as the gums shrink and heal.. but some are already chewing in as short as 2 weeks or less...Your harder foods will need to be cut into smaller bites as you learn how to ''chew'' and you'll be eating slower as well... It's a process, but we've all come out of this BETTER THAN BEFORE ... No more toothaches, loose teeth or pain... It does get better EVERYDAY...

I think you'll be fine, keep updating on your progress once you begin.. We're all here to help you thru this process ... GOOD LUCK Marilyn...

I got my remaining 11 teeth pulled last Friday at the VA in Buffalo NY.  Dentures in immediately..  took them out that night as i was told.  But couldn't get them back in morning.  Had a second appointment on Monday (three days later)  So many bone shards and the pain is terrible.  Now  Wednesday they are not going back in..  I don't know what to do as the inern dentist said they will not remove the shards and the pain is terrible.  Now what do i do?  I am eating soft foods and not worried about nutrition all there is good.. Help????

I had my last 10 upper teeth extracted first week in December so now fully toothless too. I had immediate temp dentures and also had trouble with how they fit. I had some shards which made then uncomfortable for about a week, and I preferred not to wear the dentures. But I tried hard to persevere as the dentist said they would help with healing. The shards seem to have worked themselves out and my gums are healing well. The temps don’t fit will though. Getting my perms in the new year though. Overall I am happy with the result as I can choose to have teeth in or out and the pain is minimal compared to having those last teeth in. Wish I’d had them all out a year ago. I think you were unlucky to have so many shards, but they should work themselves out.

I got the immediate dentures. I think it was better that way because I was forced to get used to having them in my mouth to right away. It is scary but you will get through it.. 45 is a lot but if you are unsure check around to see what's available in your area. The FEAR of what's to come is worse than what is to come. Think of it as getting into character for the role of your life. The healing takes time but you will be happy in the end. I recommend being put out for procedure.

I just had bottoms done. Meth head look before. I had a tooth condition and had a full upper at 24 years old. Getting bottoms I thought my life was over. Was sooooo sad I’m on day 5 and although I can’t eat solid I am doing good with cottage chees, yogurt, potatoes, high protein drinks, etc. I am sooo in love with my smile now. You will be so happy about that. I immediately felt confident when I went to the store or spoke to people. I believe the main thing you s knowing what you are in for, have the correct expectations and you will be ok.

This is day 4 of my bottoms. I know I can’t eat a steak, but I also know my confidence went up 100%. People really do look at you as low class Piece of trash even when they do not know the reason they look the way they did. Dental work is so expensive and I had to save every penny I had to get these. $5,000 later. Remember keep your expectations realistic. Yes it’s different no doubt about it, but for me this is way better for my health, and for my confidence. Good luck.

Shannie, did you have bottom teeth extracted and immediate denture placed? I am having 12 removed from bottom and 4 implants installed and a temporary denture placed until implants heal and snap on dentures will then be placed...so nervous!

Shannie when you got your tops did you feel like they were too big for your face like your lips weren't closing around them properly? I just got my tops I'm about to be 28 I have bad teeth because of bad genes and babies I'm supposed to get my bottom and they said I wont think I look so bad when I do those but I feel like I wont be able to open my mouth at all because the teeth are bigger than what my regular teeth were. I also feel like its stretching my lips wider than they are meant to be? I dont know if its cause my gums are still swollen. Mind you it's only been 5 hours since I had this done... oh and I'm still bleeding and they are rubbing really hard where my inner cheeks meet my gums

You probably need an adjustment. They bulged out the front just under my nose. My lip curled under and I "lost" it. When i went in they were able to adjust the gums of the denture which brought the teeth up and inwards. Just explain it to the dentist as best as you can. They appreciated the feedback while doing the fine tuning. The dentist wants your denture to work too. Remember it's a team thing.

My regular Dentist pulled 17 teeth for me, with just local numbing. I did the upper first, went back two weeks later and had the bottoms pulled. Then I saw a different Dentist who was specialized in Dentures. I did get the Immediate Dentures, so I could wear them immediately, however, I would of gotten a better fit on my Dentures, if I had waited to get the Dentures after ALL l my teeth were pulled. It is now 3 years later, and my Dentures are way to big for me, so now I need a new set. Looking back, I probably would done the same thing. The only problem I had, was my gums were VERY sore, and I could not tolerate the Denture Dentist pressing on my Dentures, to get them fit my raw gums. I just about came unglued in the chair!!! So I just wore the upper dentures, and waited for 2 weeks so my gums would heal, then I went back to have the upper and bottom dentures adjusted to fit me better. No one notice I only had upper teeth either, when I shop for groceries. I drank most of my food, for the 2 weeks, then could eat a soft scramble egg. It took a good month, before I could eat regular food, however I am still unable to eat nuts, and I really miss them. Sometimes I can chew a peacon, but I love Spanish peanuts.

Just had 21 teeth pulled (upper and lower at same time) for dentures. On day 4. Tried using a little adhesive in my upper temp and pulled out a stitch—oh no! Fav food is avocado mashed with pulverized boiled egg with a splash of lime juice and garlic salt—delicious and doesn’t require chewing.

I had 18 teeth extracted at one time. I was scare and had a panic attack during the deading of the gum process. I didn't have any problem with my gums afterward. I chose not to get immediate dentures because I had a lot of infection in my gums. It has been three months without teeth. I have three more to go before I get my permanent dentures. I hope things go well with the dentures as it did with the extraction. Soft food is a must. I don't see how one can go without teeth.LOL

After reading some of these remarks I am glad that I have decided to let my gums heal before getting my dentures. I do not have thousands of dollars to get new ones a few years down the road. I may look ugly now but I think it will be worth it.

Good luck to you I hope mine goes well tomorrow. I have an immune deficiency and it takes me 3 times longer to heal than the average person so I’m so nervous. I had a bottom tooth pulled out two weeks ago and it’s still very very sore but was a huge molar that could be why .

My husband had his remaining 9 teeth removed Tuesday and his mouth is VERY sore.  He opted to wait until his gums have completely healed to get his dentures.  I wanted him to get the "immediate dentures" but dentist said they would need to be relined at 4-6 months and we don't have $900 to do that.

I had 15 teeth removed Thursday. My cost was 9500 my insurance only pays 1000 per calendar year. I couldn't afford the iv sedation so I received the local. I have a lot of swelling. My immediate denture fits very snug and tight. I had tons of saliva the first two days. Day three my front gums feel like it's dry or that the denture is sticking. I want to take them out but it so hard I just try to ignore them. They look great but I pray for the day the gums are healed and don't hurt. Today was the first time I took them out myself. Ouch and yuck. It was painful to get out and to put in. I feel like I am speaking funny but the dentist and the assistant said I sound great. I am only 41. I am self conscious. I am hungry and I am worried about things like kissing. How does that work?

Just a quick note - if you live in Georgia (like me) and can't afford the huge $$cost for dentures - look into the Augusta Dental School...You get your own student denture specialist and they work with you.  AND the cost is so much cheaper - I had all teeth extracted (used Oral Surgery and was put under) and rec'd temp dentures until time for perm and the whole thing is costing under $2500 and I was able to make payments each month on this.  SOO WORTH IT!

I had 19 teeth extracted two weeks ago. I had a temporary plate put in immediately. This consisted of 6 upper teeth. I live alone and I have tried to do both;keeping my plate in and taking my plate out. I leave them in for a while. At night I do not sleep with plate in. Even with the temporary plate, I have more confidence. This is a big change in my life. I love a beautiful smile. I like to laugh and feel so much better about myself!

Did any of you have jaw problems having to wait? I have an overbite and just had all 27 of my teeth pulled. I'm having to wait two weeks just to get impressions. Anyway I'm worried my jaw may lock up on me before I get to get my dentures. Any suggestions on what I can do till then to help keep my jaw in line?

less than 2 days ago I had 18 teeth (all) pulled at one time.       I had gotten my dentures made ahead of time so immediately after the extractions I went straight to the denturist and had my dentures put in.      Had to keep them in for 24 hours then could take them out to clean them.
Was prescribed pain meds which was needed for the 1st day.
I take the dentures out for an hour every 6-8 hours to clean and give my mouth a good salt water rinse.   Also rinse with cold salt water while dentures in.    Is a bit painful taking them in and out because of swelling but is not as bad as I expected.
I am drinking Boost and eating things like apple sauce and yogurt.
in a few days I go back to denturist to have adjustments made.     A little worried about this as is painful putting them in and out but they need adjusting the alleviate some of the pain as the dentures poke in places.
Things have gone easier than I expected.   After under 2 days the pain is not too bad.
One thing is getting used to talking with the dentures in as i am having trouble forming certain letters.     Feels like I have a mouth full of marbles.   drinking cold boost has really helped and rinsing with cold salt water every few hours has helped in the healing process.    I keep salt water in fridge so it is nice and cold so it helps with swelling and feels good on my gums when rinsing.
I think the worst part is taking the dentures in and out when gums are so sore and sensitive but I am surprised how quickly they are healing and feeling better and less painful.       Have a trip booked in a weeks time so hoping the healing continues as well as it has been.    Going to take boost along for my meals.   I think the vitamins in the boost help me with the healing as well.     I am so glad I did it all at once and got the dentures immediately.    The dentures serve as a sort of bandage for the gums as well which I think helpos in healing process.

Hi...new to this forum.  just had 6 upper teeth extracted and a partial inserted same day.  i haven't had any back teeth for a few years and i kept the canines but i'm having an extremely hard time with the bite on the right side of the partial in the back.  i've had it shaved down twice and it's still not right.  i fear i'll never be able to eat and enjoy food again.  i'm now 1 wk post surgery and still can't chew anything beyond mashed potatoes or eggs....due to go back in to night to work out some sore spots.  any suggestions as to what i can ask my dentist to do to get this bite somehow liveable until i can get my permanents?

Hi Cindie and welcome!! I guess the real question here is what do you want them to look like? I think the denturist will likely give your denture a more vertical profile. Josie might be able to help you out better as she works for a denturist. Also, since you have time, talk to your dentist and ask for a preview. I did not have that option and in hindsight wish I had. Let us know how you make out.

Hi Cindie, you should be able to discuss all your concerns and what you would like and not like about your denture. Usually  a denture is made to have a correct bite and with doing that they should try their best to accommodate the cosmetics you would like. If you want the buck teeth maybe bring a picture in and if you don't want that then let them know. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Cindie I forgot to mention I'm not sure what terms dentists use in the USA but they're considered a Class 1, 2 or 3. Most times they will try and make your dentures into a Class 1 as that's the "correct bite" for everyone. But as I mentioned that is "most" of the time and everyone is different. :)

Tomorrow will be 3 weeks since I had my four front teeth pulled and an immediate upper partial placed. I have had no pain and very very little discomfort. They fit great and look great. I may have gotten the color a bit too white but I will either get the immediate adjoining teeth whitened or I will adjust the color when I get my permanents. Not a bad experience at all! #smiling

Go back to your dentist with the bottom dentures and have him make an adjustment so you can wear them otherwise
you will never be able to get those bottom dentures to fit properly

I know I wrote on here forever ago, but I wanted to give everyone an update. I had all my teeth pulled on the 26th so a few days ago. i just wanted to ask how bad was the mouth sores for everybody, because mine feel like small cuts in some spots but my lips almost feel like I'm getting a couple cold sores (cold sores are nothing new for me just was wondering if I was possibly getting them with having my teeth just pulled out.)

Hi Kathryn -i just had all of my teeth extracted one week ago today! Boy, what a rough patch. I, too, developed a huge cold sore on my lip 3 days after the surgery. This created more unnecessary pain to endure. I think it is caused from the stress of the whole ordeal. I am still trying to get the cold sore to heal.....I also have very bad mouth sores where i cannot even wear my dentures right now. I go back to my dentist on Tuesday (which will be the 12 day mark) to have my sutures removed and hopefully get a relign so i can wear these damn things!! How many teeth did you have pulled?

Benzodent!!! It is a must have for people with new dentures. Once your stitches are healed, you can rub it all over the inside of your dentures and even apply adhesive if needed. It saved me. I actually ended up needing a new set of temp made as my mouth was too small for the originals. They made a new set and left out two bicuspids on upper and lower. What a difference, all of a sudden I can eat porkchops and even sesame sticks to snack on. Had 28 teeth pulled 5 weeks ago, had original temp until just a couple days ago. I am in heaven now with this new set. Fits like a charm. Can't wait for my perms, I think I will hardly now they aren't my real teeth. Finally out of my funk and feeling like I can face the world again!

I have an appointment on a Monday to have temporary dentures made. I was supposed to pick them up on Wednesday to have them put in my mouth after surgery that day. The surgery wlll now be postponed 2 weeks or so.
Can I still have my dentures made on schedule? Will it be alright keeping them until surgery time or will they not last outside my mouth until the surgery?

Jeanne .... You'll have impressions for your ''Temporary'' dentures, and the Lab should be ''on schedule'' to make them for you.... IF you pick them up 2 weeks early, I would suggest you place them in a ''Denture Bath Container'' with water & a small amount of Mouthwash, & change the water every 3 days or so...They need to be kept moist... Perhaps the Lab can tell you how to care for them until you have your extractions...You can purchase a ''Denture Bath Container'' at most ''Dollar Stores'' or the Dentist will give you one if they supply them... Good Luck, please update too...

Hi i lost my two crowns on my front teeth i was recomend to the mydentist group the dentist said i needed one filling on a back tooth a clean one missing bottom front cushion crown one set of impreshions after she took the two roots out and was told she would talk about my options of dentures priviat or nhs ones, this was all over a 3 months period of 6 appoiments,on my last appoiment i had my cushion crown put in but no dentures, she said i needed to have my bone desenty go down before a set of dentures could be made so ive got to go back in another 4 month time, well you can imagin how i felt as my first appoiment was 9th september so i have gone without my front teeth long enough now,but what makes it worse ive got to pay again because the course of treatment they say has finished, ive asked to have a meeting with her tomrw but i feel like im going to be fobbed off.

I got immediate dentures 12 days ago I am doing great. I was a bit concerned after the first 24 hours taking them out. No trouble my gums have been healing nicely and I can smile again. Just went on day 10 for a soft reline. It will be 4 to 6 months before I get my permanent dentures. Having weekly visits with the dentist. As far as food still eating soft foods it's not so bad. I had periodontal disease and I have to say I feel healthier already. I did not have much swelling an no bruising like I thought I might days after only sore spots kept the salt water coming.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!  You're doing FINE..This is a ''journey'' & we're all here to help you.. I had the same experience you had too... no swelling, no bruising & on day 3 I was at the ''hairdresser!!  Day 4, I was in a meeting, talking NORMAL too... After each reline, you'll notice that your dentures will ''loosen'', that's because your gums are readjusting & shrinking to the form of your dentures... You can use ''Adhesive'' if you need it... so each week, you may need another ''soft reline'', probably for the first 4-6 weeks...Soft food was great, I even lost weight too.. By week 5, I was eating small bites of ''Steak'' for my Birthday.... Next you'll learn how to Chew with dentures...I started ''chewing'' with Farmer John sausage links & eggs... So far, you're doing GREAT!!  Keep updating on your progress!!  BEST OF LUCK..."Dee"

I have to have my top 9 teeth removed and an immediate denture put in.  I am wondering how painful the removal of the teeth is.

Dee thank you for your response.  I had my top 9 teeth removed today (yes, I was a complete basket case the poor Oral Surgeon).  All the teeth had to be removed surgically as I had prior root canals, etc, that went bad.  After coming home and sleeping a while, I have been taking my pain medicine and antibotics.  I have to say I am in no pain or feel any sores now.  It has been about 12 hours since the teeth were removed.  I am hoping things will move along well since, I am currently doing very well.

I want to thank you for this forum as it wonderful being able to read how other people dealt with the pain, issues, etc.  Once again thank you!!  You made me more relaxed then I would have been (I probably would have rescheduled :)).

GOOD FOR YOU Barbara... This is a ''Process'' & will take some time, but I guarantee you, you'll be eating ''regular food'' in no time.. Thanksgiving will consist of mashed potatoes & gravy & everything SOFT!!  By Christmas, you'll be eating regular foods, small bites of course, as you'll be learning how to ''Chew'' with dentures...I started about 3 weeks afterwards, eating ''Farmer John Sausage Links'' & Eggs.. Try to chew with food equal on each side.. that prevents the denture from ''rocking'' .... Soon, if necessary, you may be needing an ''adhesive'' as your gums shrink...I use both Fixodent ''Paste & Powder''.. I have found that the Powder is a lot easier to remove from the roof of my mouth ...

IF your dentist didn't prescribe a medicated mouth wash, you can purchase ''Antiseptic Mouth Wash'' at any Dollar Store ....When my dentures are in the ''Dental Bath Cup'', they're in water with a small amount of Mouthwash in it too...It's a good idea to rinse your mouth out after each meal with this too... Rinsing with ''Salt Water'' really helps reduce the swelling too..Cleanliness is important at this stage.. As time goes by, the ''tooth sockets'' will smooth out too...

You're past the ''hard part'' (extractions) & on the ''Journey'' to a beautiful smile... no more pain, gum infections or tooth aches... You will learn how to adjust in between visits to your dentist too...GOOD LUCK Barbara ...Keep updating on your progress too...We're here to HELP YOU!!

Hiya Barbara, all great advice, but I would like to add when you rinse your mouth out, don't swish. It will loosen the blood clots just move your head around and open up your mouth over the sink. you can't spit either. also no straws. best of luck to you!!

Hello Barbara, I also had 9 upper teeth removed on October 28th and was very fortunate that I had very little pain. I found that 2 Tylenol with three Ibuprofen did the trick for pain and only had to take them once. The only real pain that I experienced was from sore spots on the left upper gum and the roof of my mouth. Did a lot of research and someone on this Forum had recommended using "Sea-Bond" upper wafer with a powder adhesive below and above the wafer. This made for a tight fit with the Sea-Bond being used for a cushiony effect that eliminated the pain from the sore spots. Within one week, I was chewing gum and eating most soft to medium-soft foods (Chicken, Sausages, Hamburgers, Pretzels). I haven't tried steak yet, but only eat steak when I go to restaurants. I have found that hotdog or hamburger buns to be somewhat difficult, so use a pita bread bun for hamburgers.

Good luck Barbara, believe me, every day it gets better.

I had 15 teeth pulled about 3 months ago. I was immediately fitted with temporary healing partials. After about 3 or 4 weeks they won't fit so you have to get them refined. The oral surgeon told my it will take 5 to 6 months of healing before I'm ready for my permanent set. I'm having a lot of problems with bone spurs though. They are residual tooth and bone shards left behind after the extractions. They pop out of your guns every now and then and you have to get them removed. I usually just pry them out with forceps or my finger nail and feel so much better after. Here is a pic of my with my temporary partials in. BTW I have no reply front teeth it's all the partial.

I had 15 teeth pulled and had dentures the same day thank god because i cant imagine being at work or anywhere with no top teeth. The soft liner really made it feel amazing but i was told the soft liner would be good for 5 weeks lasted about 1 week before my gums were rubbed raw. 4 weeks now really trying to start eating different things because if i eat one more bite of mashed potatoes i will barf. Lol. Now all i want is wendys frosty. My question is i have read many comments about being charged to get different steps done. Mine was 1 set price 15 teeth pulled the 1st dentures then my permanent in 6 months the liners every 5 weeks i go back sat to get 2 cavities filled and my bottom gums and teeth scaled my total cost is 5600.00. I can smile now and feel good about having nice teeth.

Hi Darcie, ..... The ''Temporary Dentures'' are great while your gums are healing.. However, the ''Soft Relines'' usually are done just about ''weekly'', depending on how fast your gums shrink.. and yep, most of the time the soft reline lasts about a week,.. There are ''adhesives'', which I'm sure you've figured out, that you can use between relines... There used to be a product called ''Cushion Grip'' that was very similar to a reline, which I used & loved, however they don't make it anymore... There is another product online, that does about the same, however I haven't used it & don't remember the name... I have my ''Permanent Denture'' now, which are thinner & form-fitted to YOUR mouth... You'll like that much better!!

As far as COST, it sounds reasonable, however I live in CA, so my dentures, extractions & lower ''partial'' was around $8,000.00.... Well worth it too,... It really depends on the ''services'' you've agreed to with your dentist & probably what part of the country you live in...

Good Luck & keep the updates coming... We're here to help you thru this Journey!!

I am one day out of having my last remain back molar pulled. I had horrible experience with dentist my whole life, now at 38 I need my 11 remaining top teeth pulled and thankfully my bottoms can be spared but I need partials on both sides. I was quoted 3,229.50 for the high end "lighter" heat treated dentures and partials. They are insured for 7 years as opposed to the lower end dentures of 4 years. I'm getting Delta Dental coverage from my work tomorrow to help defer the cost. I'm going to an Aspen Dental and its been a truly awesome experience. Are you going to be awake for your extractions? I'm honestly scared after having this last tooth done while awake!!! It was pretty nerve wracking, Sorry for all the questions but Good Luck!!

Danielle, I had all my upper and lower teeth pulled under local.  Some were missing to begin with.  I had to wait 3.5/4 months to get my perms.  My new dentures fit well with adhesive and I tackled fried chicken tenders last night.  It was awesome.  When I initially had my teeth pulled I was not in horrible pain that I noticed as I formally was in major pain with bad teeth.  Honestly I still can't eat much with my dentures as some days are better than others.  I am thankful for my new smile but dissapointed that I still can't eat what I want.  Carpe Diem!!!!!!

Good for you Darcie! Doesn't it feel good to smile again?? I love my teeth! I have a problem with my perms though which is depressing but they will hopefully re-make them.
As far as adhesives I used secure with my temporaries but I find fixodent gumcare holds better now. What adhesive do you use?

Hello I just had 9 teeth pulled on bottom and had an immediate plate put in. I have been using warm salt water several times a day and ibuprofen. I only take my prescription at night. I've had my top dentures for several years but I don't recall it bothering me as much as my bottom. Any suggestions on what can help make it more comfortable. Can't get into my dentist till next Thursday due to the holidays.

I’m in the process of getting my teeth pulled. Got the two front ones done today and go back in a few weeks for a consultation on the remainder. (Stupid public system) I won’t have my new teeth until 3 months after my mouth is complete. That includes fillings. It only costs me $30 a visit so I know I shouldn’t complain but I’m 21 and am gonna have to go without my front teeth for several months. Luckily I live in a small town and have no social or work life
(Online student) but I still feel gross. My self esteem is at a real low and I’ve only had two pulled. And the pain is awful.

Was it expensive to get all the teeth pulled at once?

It was $224 per tooth regardless if you did them all at once or separately.  Insurance paid half of that

I had 14 teeth extracted in December. Went for dentures @ a separate dentist in February. The experience was one of the most awful of my life. They gave me a huge overbite. The plate is too big & gagged me nonstop. I have a very tiny mouth. They wanted me to spend thousands on upper dental denture implants. I can't afford. The denture center had some of the most uncompassionate & money hungry people ever, with the exception of one girl. Left and the next week went to the original surgeon (whom I love) he told me the dentures were some of the worst he had ever seen. He had to remove bone. I woke up during the surgery. It was traumatic. It caused nerve damage as well. I developed a molar infection now after a second round of antibiotics & mouthwash I am improving. I have bone coming out of that spot & couple of others, but it's not out the bottom of gums, but the sides. Really scared to have to go back but it's blistering my inner cheek now. I was scheduled for a couple of unrelated procedures but the surgeon cancelled til my mouth heals. This has been one of the worst nightmares of my life. I an still toothless, uppers anyway, still have my bottom except back 2 & getting implants there, which I am scared to do as well. Can barely eat, roof of mouth is still extremely swollen. This has been 4 months of agony. I can't imagine having immediate dentures, however I am a recluse now & very depressed. I have found nothing positive about this experience thus far. Thanks for letting me vent

Everyone says you’ll feel so numb you won’t feel a thing. Well I was awake for all of mine. They had me on laughing gas and shot my mouth full of novacaine everywhere! But if you have any type of infection it will affect any novacaine and you’ll feel every shred of pain. I was on antibiotics for a month before, but there are hidden infections that won’t ever go away til they are scraped away after the extraction. It was the worst pain that I’ve ever felt and had to go through it for 6 of the teeth and when they were scraping and removing the infection it was horrific but once they scraped out all the infections I could feel everything finally going numb . Did it suck? YES! But here I am 2 days later on advil and thanking myself and proud of myself for not quitting during. From now on. No more toothaches and no more hospital visits for infections. This may deter some of you, if you have to stay awake, but it’s only a few hours of pain compared to a lifetime of no more pain.
