I had a try in the week before my extractions. The dentist made sure the fit, color, alignment and any preliminary adjustments were taken care of.

That's great Charlid61. That will confirm that your bite reg is accurate. As long as your Bite Reg was accurate the only issues you will have through your process is your gums changing and adjusting the acrylic on the denture to your gums until your 6 mth Reline.

Hi Josie, I did have a try in. The bottoms fit good. The tops however didn't stay put because of the teeth that are still there. My dentist said I could have trouble with the top denture. He made sure my bite was good.

I'm not sure if I'm following Marilyn. Let's say you have your front teeth only, they can do a try in with your posteriors and you try it in and they do a check-bite to confirm your bite was like your Bite Reg appt.

You may have small issues and I encourage you to make sure you get your Reline in 6 mths.

You can't if you still have some teeth there.

My try ins came in pieces because they were wax. She put in the wax dentures in the places where I had no teeth which was the back on both sides. She checked my bite using those.

The only places they could try were where there were no teeth already. She had me bite down like you see here to verify that bite was correct. It did need a small adjustment and the other side was too narrow.

Yes you can Jeanne. If you already have some missing teeth, like in the back for example you can have a wax try-in and denture teeth where the spaces are. This will help check your bite again and make sure it's accurate before finishing the denture. If you don't have missing teeth you can get your posteriors extracted 1st, then try in the wax up and once everything is good they can finish the denture and have it ready for the day you get your anteriors extracted and insert.

Too bad that happened Charlid61. Either they didn't have enough wax on it or it started melting in your mouth.  If it was from a lab that shipped to them it could've broke in shipment. I work at a Denture Clinic and we don't have those issues any more. :)

YES Charlied61 that's great! lol Glad they did that for you. I've read a lot of stories here in the past and have given some input but just realized this is a tip that people should know in case some dentists are not doing this.  :)

I notice  Charlid61 on the pic you have a gap from your natural tooth to your 1st denture tooth on your upper right. Do you still have that gap now that the denture is finished?

No. All of the gaps have been fixed. I had all of the natural teeth pulled and the new teeth were properly placed.

Well, gee. I'm supposed to be getting a hard reline. How is that supposed to be dealt with? I'm nervous my dentist will screw that up too.
