E Day tomorrow morning

More nervous about the numbing feeling.. I cannot stand not feeling my face... I've had bad experiences with numbing and it makes me jittery, heart palpatates, and then I feel weird.. like idk how to explain it. It's not good.
I'm going to under general at a hospital tomorrow morning... my 3 yr old and my hubby will be there.. it's hard not to show mommy is scared.. but I'll do it..
I'm having 15 teeth pulled... full upper and some on bottom. . With only a full immediate... which I'm also nervous about not fitting.. the shit looks thun and nothing like the pics I've seen... being bulky... they look so fragile..
Dr said about 90 mins is what they're expecting for surgery. They're shaving my jaw bone also and they may put a hole in my one sinus bc it's the only tooth supporting the sinus in that area.. sooo, yeah...
It's reality now.. no more going back and forth... the shit is real.
I'll be happy when I wake up to see my baby though.. like, yes another day... (I'm smiling and tearing up right now)...
7am have to be there (ET) and they'll take me back at 830... ugh. ..

Anyone ever do this shit under general with no local ?

I can't say I know what you are going through but I am wishing you the best. I can say I know how hard it is to pretend to be okay in front of our children. I'm glad your husband's there for you.

I'm finishing up getting some things together for my baby tomorrow while I'm under.. then going to try and sleep .. haven't had an appetite at all today.. nerves are bad. ..

Go to my page and read my story, I think you'll find it super helpful! I was in your shoes 5 months ago, had to go with nonteeth for 4 months and next wed I will have my permanents, it's rough by the light at the end of the tunnel is totally worth it! I'm 31 and it's been hard since may ring toothlless not wanting to talk to people, laugh or smile, now that I've had my teeth set in wax and I know what they will look like, I regret nothing. They will be set in my permanents next wed! It'll take some getting f used to and it's been a long road !!! But so worth it to be able to talk to people, smile and laugh and be confident for the first time not embarrassed! Best of luck

I only had a try in of the palette bc I still have my natural teeth.. .. they said I can use the ones I have as permanent ones bc it's the same grade they use regardless... idk... I'm hoping they fit and that it all goes well...
I know I can't let me natural teeth get worse bc it'll be more difficult. And regardless this needs t be done. I can't sit in dental chair numb having them in my mouth fixing my upper teeth to save them bc they can be saved... but with extensive work.. I can't take it.

I was put under, though I didn't want to, since it added 1500 dollars to the bill, but I'm glad I did.  I had the same thing done.  It went very well for me.  I even took our dog for a walk later that evening and went to work the next day (It was a summer day camp and I worked in the wood shop doing projects with the kids, my partner had left for an Alaskan cruise and I had to go in, no choice, and it went fine)

One bit of advice is to take the meds like they say, do exactly what they say, they really know what they're doing.  Also, use an old pillow case.  I ruined two of ours by bleeding on them over night.

But here's the thing to remember, everyday, it gets better and you get closer to having permanent dentures, and that's what I keep thinking from my end.  Good luck!!  Let us know how it goes.

Thank you! It did add to the bill, but my insurance covers that part. I had to pay $1220 just for the immediate top denture...
Thank you for your advice about pillow.. I didn't even think about that!
When you woke up, where you numb? How was your pain? Did your immediate fit?

UPDATE:
Yesterday was horrible! Just horrible! They had to give me narcan apparently bc I didn't do well with a pain med... so I slept for like,2 to 3 hours after they took me from or to recovery... and I was so sleepy... couldn't keep my eyes open for shit.... like I've never felt like that ever in my life. .. the worst feeling...
Today just swollen like crazy. .. and zero energy... Maybe bc of no food?... I've had 2 cups of a smoothie today and some water...
I was prescribed this mouth wash, but not sure if I want to use it, I'll wait til hubby gets home incase of reaction... I will also remove my denture tomorrow to clean it. .. I'm nervous about that. ... afraid it's going to hurt like a mfr....
Pain is manageable.... didn't take any ibuprofen today... I just want my body to be cleaned of the shit they gave me in hospital yesterday. .
I did start my antibiotic... I have to take it 3xs a day....

Lmk what your experience was with your immediate 1st time removing it... and when your swelling went down. ... did you have a mouth wash? Did you use it with your denture in or waited until you could remove it?

Why did they give u narcan that doesn't make sense! That blocks opiayea from
Going to opiayw receptors in brain!! It's used when people overdose! And has side effects! I'm so sorry your feeling that way! I wasn't covered for immediate dentures and I can't imagine what it feels like to have dentures put on right after extraction! I had to goo tha without teeth! Drink
Lots of water if you can and green tea to get that narxan out of ur system! I wish you a speedy recovery

They gave it apparently bc I didn't handle the med they gave me in or... Maybe too much of it or something idk... I know I heard the one nurse over the phone before they transfered me over to recovery...
I remember them putting something in my nose.. like drops in each nostril... before they did that, I couldn't even move. .. afterwards I was able to move my arms and give a thumbs up...
Then it was night night time for my ass... I feel way better today then yesterday... just no energy and swollen... yesterday was too much for me...

Hi AC I'm sorry ur having a tuff time. It does get better. Days 3 thru 5 were the worst for me due to swelling was the worst them days. Pain wasn't ever too too bad just from swelling. I remember being TERRIFIED too the first time I had to remove denture but fOR me it didn't hurt at all. Ppl r diff but I think my mind had it all worked out to being the worst thing ever but after first removal I was like what the hell was I so worried about. Lol. Remember to ice a lot. Even placing pieces of ice between ur mouth and gums and just letting it melt. Helps with swelling and also feels extremely soothing. And salt water rinsed. Several several times a day. I didn't have a mouth wash but I would alternate between pain med and ibuprofen. But by 22nd or 3rd day I only needed ibuprofen. I know right now ur wondering wth did u do but I promise it does get easier. And no more bad painful teeth and will have a beautiful smile. Good luck and keep us posted

When did you go out in public ? I look like a monkey and chipmunk together right now.. I'm icing... and still swollen more today...
I've read that with aveloplasty.. your face tends to get more swollen... I just want this phase to be over with... it sucks.

The first time mine were removed was 24 hrs after by my dentist. He told me to keep them in and let him take out the first time. Then after he did he told me to start taking out every night b4 bed. And yea the aveloplasty I've heard does make swelling worse. It did me anyway. But after day 4 or 5 swelling started going down and it got ALOT better. Idk if u will b the same but just b prepared for days 3 to 5. It was a f'n doozy for me. Wow. And i know what u mean about the pain meds out ur system. I hate taking anything more than ibuprofen or aspirin. Lol.

I was told to start using the mouth wash on day 4 and the dentures weren't to be removed until 24 hours after extractions.

I really didn't need much pain medication and mostly used ibuprofen in the morning and before bed to help with swelling.

Lol. I didn't have any issues first time removing but I remember I was terrified 1 it was gonna hurt like a mf and 2 I was scared was gonna pull out clot and id get dry socket but neither happened and my dentist said the denture helps heal like a band aid kinda and I'm less likely to get dry socket becuz I have the denture. After that first removal I've been taking out couple times during day to clean and then at night to sleep.

Day by day, Hon. It gets better. With the swelling, don't be surprised you can't get them back in for a day or two. Try your very very best to keep them in until you lose the clots. Swelling is gonna suck, no sugar coating it. But by the 2nd week you'll be eating better. I had a hard time opening my mouth for a good two weeks, but that was due to the pressurized shots...I only had local, not even laughing gas. That sucked!! We're all thinking of you, AC!

My dentist took mine out at my follow up appointment the next day and now I take them out every night. I felt I looked like a snake woman when I first got mine. I didn't look anything like I normally look. I was self conscious at first which isn't like me but it went away as I got more used to wearing them. I just felt like I looked so different.

Hey Lisa... I'm swollen... worse so far.. I'm also sore bc went to dentist to see if he could take denture out the first time bc I tried and it only pushed a little but wouldn't come out... and so he said I was too swollen to leave them in until I see surgeon in Tues to have him take it out since he has to check my gums... and if it doesn't fit back in to go back to dentist to make adjustments..
I'm depleted though. Like no energy. . Force super creamy cream of wheat, and I drunk smoothies all day, and water... plus nurse... so I'm weak af right now...
I feel like shit.. nurse said it will get worse before it gets better... and let me tell you, I feel like this is never going to subside.. I cannot believe my face is still swollen... it effects my eye also...
But dentist said he's impressed how well I'm doing. .. so I'm not sure if I'm just being a baby or what. .. I want the denture to get loose though so I can try and clean it or rinse off at least... just nervous the shit it swollen on there for good...
I think I'm so swollen also bc I had my sinus filled.. on top of the aveloplasty..
Hoping this is all normal, and that it's not just me..

Thanks for checking up. ..

You're in a totally normal place, take heart. Days 3-5 were hell for me. Either we're both babies or it's not that uncommon, but man I was sure I was getting worse. You're so weak from lack of food. Try making yourself eat something - even pudding or yogurt - every 2-3 hours. It keeps you nourished enough to feel a little better. Take a long hot shower and put on something cute. It honestly does make you feel better.

Lisa thanks! I'm going to eat some jello now..ugh u can't even eat it... hard to swallow the chunks of it... Maybe I'll let it melt...
I'm just so worried my damn denture is going to stain from the colors of the jello and the gatoraid drinks.. all bc I can't take this damn denture out bc of how swollen I am.. it's really starting to make me worry... here is a pic of now

And then here is from this morning...

I appreciate your responses lisa... thank you!
Thank you for just taking the time to even read my experience.. and to even take time to reply. Means a lot.
