Don’t back out! I had a lot of mine removed as well with just the shots that they gave me to numb me and the only thing I can tell u is be strong. The nurse that was with me held my hand through it all. I might’ve broken her hand due to squeezing so hard but I got through it and so will you. I’m 2 years in already and it’s the best decision I made. Hope this makes u feel better

I had broken teeth too, right at the gum line. They will numb you up! The needles hurt but once they do that, seriously most of my teeth were out and I didn’t even know it. I just used laughing gas. It was scary but it wasn’t as horrible as I had imagined. You’ll be happy once you do this.

Just had all of my upper and lower teeth extracted I took a xanax before going in " I did ok just with the lidocaine injections. I'm happy for all of you that had dentures right after extractions, but I am looking forward to having my dentures soon.....and be able to smile again, not an easy journey but we'll worth it

Tim.. make sure to eat something before your extractions and breathe. I had broken and infected teeth. It took about 30min for the numbing to take and almost an hour for the procedure. There was TV over the chair and i had a music station on. I closed my eyes and took deep breaths. Speak up if you feel any discomfort. I got immediate dentures and left with a new smile. Get your meds and ask the dentist for Benzodent. Do your salt water rinses and sleep with your head elevated for a couple of days.. You’ll do fine.

I had 12 teeth extracted in 1 hour and 15 minutes with numbing. It wasn’t as bad as I had anticipated. They gave me my temporaries but I couldn’t wear them for about a month. I couldn’t fit them in until the swelling .

I had about 7 impacted broken down teeth taken all out at the same time. Be prepared for the pain. Be prepared for the healing process. Im such a punk for pain tooo. I think as long as you have some pain meds you should be ok. Hang in there. I hope it all works out and pasess quickly.

You made the biggest decision already.  Even though you backed out once think of having absolutely no pain once they are pulled out.  Its not all that bad.  I didn't have sedation.  Once the gooms are frozen in no time the teeth will be out.  I backed out once, for a whole year but then decided I didn't want anymore pain.  Chin up, walk in and remember once they are out and you get your dentures you will wonder what took you so long.  The Dentist might say that it will take so many hours but in reality it don't.  If some are to the goom, they have appliances that grip them below the goom.  Don't worry so much about it.  Good luck .

All of you are absolutely gorgeous. Arent you happy you had your teeth pulled. Remember as your gums shrink your temp. Teeth will get big dont waste your money on adhesives try DenSureFit. Its a silicone that sticks to your denture not your gums. Its like the product your dentist uses for soft relines.

Sharona, never heard of Densurefit, where can I get it? I've had my top denture which is the only one I have for over 2 years now and I still hate it and I hate the adhesives as well. they actually make me sick to my stomach.

You can get DenSureFit on line at www.densurefit.com. I am going on 7 weeks with it in my denture. I suggest you google densurefit videos. There are some great videos about the product and how to use it. The guy that does the videos has great tips. Its worth the money. Let me know what you think. I have tried everything in 40 something years.

Are you talking about both the uppers and the lower arches

Would a light tranquilizer like Xanes or whatever they prescribe
make it easier  for you to get into the Dental office by reducing your anxiety level
Would there be any value in doing only one arch at a time????

Any point in getting another dental  opinion on whether all your teeth have to be extracted???

Are they sure all your teeth have to be extracted???   Are there any teeth good enough to use as anchors for over dentures or bridges???

Good luck what ever you do.

I was given xanax before i went in for my extractions and i can say it helped a little. Might be a good option to consider.

Me too.  I backed out a couple of times.  I was scared shit-less and pretty mad actually.  What I did was clear my mind, pretended like I was going surfing at the beach and maintained (in and out) my mind at the beach just by envisioning surfing, kids playing with beach balls, a volleyball game going on with a bunch of drunk people, the smell of bbq on the grill, the sound of the ocean, a whale watching ship going by where the people in the boat threw me a rope and I surfed parallel to the shoreline.  Anyway, that helped me alot!  Because I had backed out so many times it just made it harder to go in when I finally did.  But I really needed to.  You will be amazed at how fast it goes by.  Absolutely take that valium, I mean I did.  I took the painpills afterward also.  I gave myself moments to just daydream during the process.  I still have my temps but I am eating whatever I want, however sloppy, and I don't have to deal with people looking at me grossed out or feeling sorry for me or even scared.  Those people can kiss my ass now!  I can smile.  My temps aren't great so you can really tell I have dentures but at least I don't have a mouthful of shit anymore.  The sooner you get it done the sooner you can chew.  Chewing is good for the soul!

Yes. Chewing is good but also not having to think about "can I chew that?" It's great to see an apple and just pick it up and eat it.

Dude I’m fucking petrified tomorrow for myself as well. I’m going in for 1:40 28 teeth extracted all black craters down to the gum line. I’m so scared it literally just hit me an hour ago. Do not watch YouTube videos of it lol that was a major mistake i had. Right now i still have a slight abscess thankfully no pain from it so hoping the novacaine will work. I’ve backed out multiple times as well. Bring your headphones and ignore all the sounds. You got this and i do to!

The numbing works amazingly. Seriously you’ll just feel pressure. The worst pain is the needle but after that it’s totally fine. I promise. I thought I was gonna have a heart attack but it wasn’t too bad. It wasn’t even loud and horrible sounding. Trust me, it will be worth it in the end.

Tim,
I hope you give us updates as to how you are doing.
I am two weeks out from having all uppers and lowers extracted with immediate temps and no sedation. I did much better than I thought I would. I am hoping you did too.
