Fixodent Ultra....

Possible allergy? So I have great fitting dentures. Normal Fixodent lasts an entire day. I saw the Ultra and thought "Who doesn't want even MORE hold?" and bought several tubes.
Me... that's who. It didn't hold any better at all. They are ALL going in the trash. I used this crap once. It oozes worse than anything else on the market. My mouth tingled for a week and I couldn't taste anything. Well let me revise that. I couldn't EAT anything because it made everything taste horrible including leaving a bad taste in my mouth for a week from just ONE use. No amount of rinsing, soaking, scrubbing made it go away. Wth Fixodent??? Don't waste your money. Super glue or epoxy would have been more pleasant. It oozes with even the tiniest amount used, it absorbs into your gums and tongue/throat and the lasting effect is HORRIBLE!!!!

Sorry it affects you like that but it's the only thing I've found that works for me.

Try the fixodent powder, no after taste, no oozing and a very strong hold, I love it I cant take any after taste or oozing, I have an eating disorder so everything makes me sick to my stomache, but the powder doesnt bother me at all its great if you google the number for fixodent and call them they will send you a coupon for the value of a full size bottle, its worth trying if you can get it for free.

This is exactly what happened to me with Poligrip ES. It seeped all day over the top and down the front teeth. Disgusting. I’m loving the Fixodent Extra Strength powder!

Fixodent never worked for me ever! I've tried various ones let's see: 1. Fixodent and Fixodent Ultra never worked. I've tried 2. Y Kelin and its effective the same as Poligrip however it can only be ordered online, it still oozes. 3. Poligrip is by far the only one that really works well for me. 4. Effergrip I am not impressed it oozes two and didn't hold up all day. 4. Dynarex does pretty good but it oozes as well and doesnt grip as tight or securely as Poligrip but Poligrip is a mess to clean at the end of the day. 5. The poligrip powder works well and has an all day hold. 6. Dentex has a great all day hold but it taste horrible and it oozes alot. 7. Secure it works well for me, it has a great hold but it oozes also and stings alittle per application and is expensive and difficult to find for me here other than at the natural food store: I'm abit more conscientious about using Secure as it doesn't have the Petroleum in it- I am however and do suggest everyone do the following: I drink a far share of organic 99 percent aloe vera juice weekly to counter the effects of the ingestion of small amounts or particles of petroleum and other adhesive components that we ingest.

Every morning I tend to have a towel where I use my finger to continuously get all the oozing excess off and rinse with cold tap water until it sets so I understand the frustration its rather annoying.. I've had two soft relines and regardless they haven't fulfilled the promise of having or wearing these dentures without the need for adhesive at all so that's obviously a marketing ploy. I am considering the thought of using or trying non toxic art adhesives to see if they will perform better after all we just need something that creates a layer between the denture and our gums that creates a adhesion between the two. There is a non toxic adhesive for plastics called: Testors for plastics and acrylics- I AM NOT REFERRING ANYONE OR ADVISING ANYONE TO TRY IT, I AM STATING THAT I AM CONSIDERING DOING SO as well as children putty as a methodological shift of hopefully finding something that creates a all day binding hold without the oozing, without the difficult nightly cleaning regiment, without all the mess..... Something has to be worth a try right? In July I get my bottom snap on which I wish the time would hurry up because that will be one area where I won't have to use adhesive then I am scheduling to get screws or rather implant surgery for the top as well so I can eventually say good bye to adhesives all together for good.......

Poligrip is good but too  hard to get off your gums. I love the Fixodent Ultra. Easy to get off gums and great hold.

OK PEOPLE I GOT IT DOWN LOL MIND ABOVE IM YELLING AGAIN . MICROFIBER TOWELS, AMAZON I figured out a microfiber towel will get the adhesive off your gums so easy I just bought a pack of 50 for $15 cut them in half put 2 little baskets under my sink one for clean one for dirty when there is enough dirtg ones Im going to soak them in a little bleach water and run them thru the washer. I had some around the house and they were clean but had been used for dusting and other various household chores so I didnt want them in my mouth. So I ordered some brand new ones and tried it for the first time last nite and I didnt have to irritate my gums to get the adhesive and powder miz off my bottom gums, my uppers I use just the powder, by the end of the day there is a tiny bit left on my gums and the towel took it right off, the bottoms like I said I use a combo so there is a lot more product, came right off. It was nice not to scrub my gums last nite. I still brush my gums in the am and pm but NO SCRUBBING YAYYY!!!! So try it people

Also swish some ice water before picking glue boogers. The ice water makes them more rubbery and less slimy. Much easier to grab an edge and peel.

I have tried them all as well. Fixodent mint flavored works the best for me. I don't know why the mint, but it does. I only tried the Ultra because it was new. The powder is ok, but doesn't last as long for me. NOW... if I want these suckers to be totally impossible to take out at night, I will use the mint Fixodent on dry dentures, sprinkle with cool water and THEN put powder over the paste. Holy cow... paste + powder and you will not get them out even if you want to. The down side is it's kind of a chore, but if I have a big day planned, then it's paste + powder.

I found you through a denture comment you made.!im curious what you’ve had done as I’m about to get dentures October 8th. They’ll pull all my teeth all 30 remaining, give me a healing denture for 4mths, then implant post Lisbon my lower jaw after 4mths, then 4 more months to heal implant posts then I’ll have implant supported dentures. By the way you look beautiful! And your comments helped me so much!!

You're so sweet! So I will tell you about both my work and my husbands. He had all his teeth pulled and got the all on 4 at Clear Choice. He says they are ok but hates that he has to go in every 6 months to have them taken out and cleaned at $500 per cleaning. The up side is they look great and he says they feel like natural teeth. The down side is no amount of cleaning keeps plaque from building up on the posts and food gets trapped between his teeth and gums even though he has a tight fit.

I had all my teeth pulled with the plan to also get posts, but the kind where I can pop the teeth in and out myself. After all my teeth were pulled I was fitted with immediate dentures and had unlimited soft relines. Well here I am 2 years later. I keep postponing my implants because my dentures fit so perfectly. I did the last soft relines myself. It's super easy and super cheap. They actually feel like my teeth, which is crazy and I can eat anything with just a tiny amount of adhesive. The only thing is caramel type stuff like starburst. That doesn't stop me from gumming those when I am at home. Lol! I am so content with my dentures that I am struggling to justify spending the additional $20,000 for the implants. In fact, my husband sometimes regrets spending all that money on his work and wishes he could just take them out and soak them to clean them too.

That being said, it really depends on how much patience you have. Mine were not perfect overnight. It took some work and time to get where I am. I still have to be conscientious of some things like poppy seeds. Those suckers are the devil if they get under your dentures and stuck in the adhesive. Overall, I don't feel like I am missing out on much at all and probably will use the $20,000 to take some cruises. Lol.

Regardless of which route you take, you will cry, get mad, want to throw the dentures off a bridge, etc. That's all normal. We've ALL been there. It takes patience. Part of why mine work so well for me is because the muscles around my dentures have learned to hold them in. You have to give your mouth time to adjust. You wouldn't get a prosthetic arm or leg and expect to function at 100% immediately and this is basically the same. Your muscles have to learn, your mouth has to heal and your gums will change shape. It just takes time.

I know it's scary. I remember very clearly. My dentist gave me a ton of Valium to take the morning of my extractions. By the time I got there, I didn't care what he did. I was awake and had a ton of Novocaine. It wasn't as painful as I expected, but the healing part is kind of gross if you are squeamish at all.

Stay strong. Life will be great and you won't be able to stop smiling. Be patient with your body as it learns and adjusts and just know that a normal life is possible regardless of what ever route you take. We are all here to support you in your journey.

P.S. I know some people say they don't enjoy food as much, but I enjoy it more now. No pain and it's surprising how much bad teeth can make food taste bad.
