Four weeks post e-day, loving it!!

Well, it's been 4 weeks, and I can't believe how well it's going.  I thought it would much harder.  I still have a few sore spots, but they're minimal.  I had a cheeseburger at Red Robin on Friday, that I cut with a knife and fork, but loved it.  Even at a few mozzarella sticks, my favorite.  They were actually harder to eat than the burger.

I had my last soft realign almost 10 days ago and I have to teach again on Tuesday, our first day of school here in Buffalo.  So I got some polygrip, the smallest tube I could get, just to try it out.  My dentist doesn't want me using any of that, which I agree, but every time I eat, the lower denture just floats up.  I tried the powder, but that did nothing.  The polygrip worked great.  I put it in and had a grilled cheese for lunch and the lower denture stayed in place for the first time.

I'm getting another realign on Tuesday afternoon, so we'll see how it is then.

I thought I might regret this whole decision, but I'm just sorry I didn't do this years ago when I had to have so much dental work done.  More dentists should be open to the idea of dentists.  My old dentist had the "no way, save the teeth at all costs" attitude.

Just a quick thanks, thanks for the support from those who've replied to my posts!!

I'm so happy you're doing so well! I'm almost at 2 weeks and just barely seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. So jealous of your burger. You give me hope that there are better days to come.

I agree about dentists not being willing to consider dentures. My dentist wanted to do $28k of work on my continuously rotting teeth and I just said no. He wouldn't even listen to me about dentures. Wouldn't have it. That's when I took myself to Affordable Dentures. I'm not financing my dentist's boat so my "fixed" teeth can fail in 5 years.

Keep up that positive attitude! It rubs off on people like me.

YES, THATS WHERE I STARTED AT AFFORDABLE DENTURES WHERE THE WAITING ROOM WAS BIGGER THAN THE ACTUALLY AREA WHERE THEY DO THE WORK ON YOUR TEETH! THE DENTIST TALKED THE WHOLE TIME AND DID NOT GIVE ME A CHANCE TO SPEAK, SHE WAS MORE INTERESTED IN THE FACT THAT MY INSURANCE WOULD PAY 15,000 FOR TEETH EXTRACTIONS THAN WHAT I WANTED TO DO. I FINALLY JUST SHUT UP AND WHEN SHE WAS THROUGH, I COOULDNT WAIT TO LEAVE. I ENDED UP LETTING A SURGEON REMOVE THE TEETH AND HAVING ASPEN DENTAL DO THE DENTURE PART. THEY ARE SOOO MUCH BETTER. I HAVE BEEN THROUGH DIFFERENT KINDS OF ISSUES, BUT THEY WORKED THEM ALL OUT FOR ME! THEY WERE AWESOME WITH A VERY PLEASANT ATTITUDE!

Exactly the reason I chose to get full upper, bc my teeth were fixable..but to have to keep spending the money every 5 yrs or less to keep up with them just to have them pulled eventually.. made more sense to do what I felt was better for my health. Next yr or the following year, idk yet.. I wanna see how this part goes first bc it's intense right now for me... but anyway I'll be getting implants for the implant retained denture ... not the mini ones.. the normal sized ones...
So I can keep some bone, and help with stopping the receding process...
I have seem so many dentists and it was rare to find 1 that is all about YOU... not about what's best for their pocket...
I love this site... bc you really aren't alone in this. .. people experience different things in their healing journey, but to know you're not crazy is awesome lol... arrogant dentists are the worse... and they definitely impact your thought process...

No way YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!!!!!! IF YOUR TEETH WERE LIKE MINE HAVING BROKEN ONES HERE AND THERE WITH FINE CRACKS THROUGH MOST OF THEM, I HAD 2 BACK CHEWING TEETH LEFT AND BOTH WITH AN ABCESS. I WAS PLAYING A WAITING GAME OF EVERY 2 TO 3 YEARS OF EXPENSIVE DENTAL WORK INFECTION AND CONSTANT PAIN THAT I WAS LIVING WITH DAILY. BAD TEETH AND GUMS OVER A LONG PERIOD OF TIME CAUSES HEART DISEASE. NOW, I WILL NOT EVER HAVE THE BAD TEETH INFECTIONS AND PROBLEMS, HEART DISEASE ANND THE BIGEST THING OF ALL IS MY MOUTH ACTUALLY TASTE CLEAN FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME IN YEARS. I USED TO BRUSH AND NEVER GET RID OF THAT BAD TEETH TASTE. I LOVE IT. ITS WAY MORE HEALTHIER!
