Gums, it’s been 2 weeks since full extractions. I have a whitish gray covering on my extraction sights. Is that normal?

Yes is the short answer. If you are not having pain with it. It is your bodies way of healing the injury.
IF, you have pain, CALL dentist right away!!!

Thank you, I worry about infection. It hurts bad to put in the bottom denture because my bottom has a lot of bone spurs coming out. It’s ok to leave them out isn’t it?

Where I got my dentures did not inform me about much of anything. I did not know about bone spurs or the whitish gray of the gums. The one thing they said was to rinse with salt water . I do this about 5 to 6 times a day. And used clinical mouth wash 3 or 4 times a day.

Yes ma'am when I had my bone Spurs I used to let them break the skin and then I would take my tweezers and pull them out and if I couldn't do it that way then I will go see the dentist. But I only had to do that one time. You may be overdoing on the mouth-washing so I think I would cut back some. And there will be a little bit of a grayish whitish kind of a gel over top and that's part of healing. Back off from the clinical mouthwash buy one and back off on the saltwater by 2. See how that feels for you. Everybody's different, everybody heals differently. And yes you can have bone spurs up to one year after and sometimes a little later if they're very deep.

Thank you for telling me these things. I would have been scared. Do you go through this again when you get out of temp dentures and get the real dentures?

What did you do for the pain of the spurs? I don’t even put my lower dentures in because of the pain from the spurs.

To be honest what I did for the Spurs was clean my hands very well and then used my fingerprint area off of my fingertip to rub it so I could rub it until it broke through the skin to pull it out because they annoyed me like crazy. there's only one that I had to go and have removed because it was still attached.

What do you think about leaving your dentures in at night?

No granny once you get through the Spurs and the gums healing you don't have to go through that again as long as all of them have come to the surface and your dentist has got them all out. Yeah that's a one-time thing basically is the first year I would say that's the hardest.

Granny I leave mine in for 2 days before I take them out and scrub them down but I refresh it with these little tiny toothbrushes that Colgate makes that I can carry in my pocket you get like 20 of them in a bag for about 4 bucks at Walmart. But I'm still working and I'm not sure where you are if you're retired or not. And that's a personal thing it depends on a lot of different things but yeah you can leave them in overnight that is not a problem but you do want to allow your gums to breathe sometimes.
