Has anyone ever used "Affordable Dentures" to get thier dentures?

I have to get several upper teeth extracted and upper dentures (not sure if I will need full set or partials).  Has anyone ever used the company "Affordable Dentures" to get their dentures?  I haven't chosen where to get mine but the lady who called me from Affordable Dentures seemed nice.  But the only review I have seen online wasn't good, but they went to one of their locations that wasn't in Virginia.  If anyone has any suggestions for someone I can trust and isn't going to charge me a fortune, can you PLEASE let me know!!

I went to affordable dentures and got mine this past week there,I'm in Al. it's a all day process,u go in and get your impressions made, sit in the waiting room for like 45 mins and they'll tell you when you can leave, then you come back later that evening and pick them up and it they need adjusted they'll do it then and you can come back free of charge for 60 days and you have a yr warranty on your dentures,I got the $475 full set and they look great, they look natural..but today is my 4 day and my gums are so sore I can't wear them,I probably can tomorrow, but I'm going back Monday to get them adjusted..also they have certain times for you to get them adjusted so you won't be there very long if you need to go back, they did treat us like herding cattle in and out, honestly they were nice, but they didn't get show me a mirror after I got them, they put them in and said bye,no looking in the mirror or anything..that wasn't what I was expecting, that wasn't very professional, and the lady that done my impressions although she was nice, she made me feel like she hated her job,she did nothing to me to upset me.She just wasn't into her job like a professional person is,she could have just been having a bad day..after all,we all have them..all in all I do recommend them..there was room for improvement, but for the price and quality you are getting a great deal!! Good luck!

I sure wish there was a Denture and Dental Services (DDS) in your area.  These people are great.  I live in Oklahoma and I went last week to have my teethed pulled full denture on top partial on bottom, they put my teeth in immediately went home came back the next day for a check up I have had to go in for one adjustment, I go next week and get my first soft liner.  These people were GREAT.  They were patient with me and answered my questions and didnt rush me.  I hope you find somebody, I felt that same as you, I am a very active person and always covered my mouth when I spoke or laughed, not now.....

Hi, Catherine.

My husband recently needed to have all of his upper teeth and all but five of his lower teeth pulled, after he was assaulted (mugged) and beaten very badly. He couldn't have the major surgeries necessary to repair his facial bones, get a synthetic shoulder joint replacement, or have a new aortic valve put inside his heart - all injuries from his beating - until his teeth were pulled and his bad gums were treated and healed first. Infection from his gums could otherwise have gone to his heart, or anywhere else, while he was recuperating from the surgeries. None of his surgeons would operate until his gums were healed up. We couldn't afford the dental work OR the dentures, but in NJ, if you are the victim of a crime, you are paid money from a state fund for big medical bills incurred directly because of the crime of which you were a victim, and also for lost wages, etc. So after he came home post-surgery, we had to put up the money for his dentures (even though he will be reimbursed by the State of NJ Victim fund), and just didn't have much left.

So we looked for the local manufacturers of dentures, and found that if you phone them and ask, some will make the dentures for you directly - that is, without a 'middleman' dentist to take the impressions and do the fittings - at about half of the cost that most folks pay for dentures by going to your dentist for them. We paid less than half of what our dentist (and several other dentists) wanted - and we deliberately chose dentists who all used the same manufacturer to make the dentures they sold. This manufacturer was willing to make the impressions of hubby's gums, make the dentures for us, and do the subsequent tweaking fittings until they fit just right and comfortably - no matter how many such fitting appointments were necessary - for less than half the price... about 40% of the price all of the dentists wanted.

Our dentist predicted that we'd have problems and the manufacturer wasn't going to be willing to work with hubby, that the manufacturer wasn't going to have good patient-based service, but he was wrong. The only thing we needed to get used to was that hubby was literally visiting a lab where the dentures were made, so hubby had to sit in a regular desk chair - not a fancy dental chair; he had to get used to the fact that, as a working lab, it was rather dusty on the floor and countertops - although the man used good hygiene, washed his hands and the dentures repeatedly, each time he had to put his hands and/or the molds and dentures in or out of hubby's mouth, etc.

My advice to you, Catherine, is to dig out who manufactures dentures in your area for the dentists, because dentists don't usually make dentures for their patients; they send the work out, most of the time. Then call them, one at a time, and ask them if they are willing to see you and treat you without a dentist. If they say they are, then make sure to ask them how much money it is going to cost for them to work directly with you and get your dentures made & fitted to your mouth.

Good luck!

I went to Affordable Dentures in Bakersfield, CA 3 years ago.  I was scared and not thrilled with the pain I had before and after receiving my dentures.  I have a top denture and a bottom one with implants.  I kept having problems with them fitting correctly, they would make an adjustment, I would leave and during our 5 hrs ride home they would start rubbing in a different place.  The first set they made for me I liked a lot when I returned for the permanent ones they were not the same,  There was a slight defect in the front tooth the office told me they looked more real that way.  I wasn't too happy with this set but driving 5 hrs there and 5 hours return to home I agreed to keep them.

The next year I drove up for their annual adjustment or realignment I would leave to have the same problem again denture rubbing against my gums in a different spot.  This time we turned around to save a repeat trip.

The next year I felt they didn't need a realignment yet I was still having sore gums in a different spot.  They sent me home with instructions to use a emery board to sand down any high spots.  Each year they charged me a fee (I can't remember exactly the amount, it wasn't cheap)  I ended up using Sore Gum Pain remover gel, liquid and or paste for about 4 months.

This 3rd year their office sent me a notice it was time to have dentures checked and cleaned I did not go due to tired of driving so far and always having dentures rubbing on my gums somewhere.

Everyone says they like my smile.  When I smile It does not feel comfortable I am unable to smile I like use to,  My teeth feel as if they are too big for my gums.  The bottom dentures feel like real teeth probably because they are being held down with steel implants.  At first it was really really hard for me to remove my bottom teeth to the point where I was almost in tears.

Now I no longer have that problem removing them.  I wish I could stop playing with my top dentures.  The Adhesives I have tried do not work very long so I pop my teeth in and out, I know it doesn't look very lady like.  I am 59 years old.  I wish I didn't feel so self conscious about them.  I don't like the way my pictures turn out with "that fake smile".  Yet my mom and close friend both have top dentures and they look like real teeth.  They both do not have any problems keeping their top denture in it's some kind of suction thing going on.  They both had their dentures put in many many years ago the process is different now.  I never would of known they had dentures until they told me.  I have another girlfriend who has a full denture set and her teeth are beautiful.

The reason I went to Affordable Dentures was because the price of dentures in Silicon Valley are like $40,000-$60,000 and no way can I afford that.  I do not have dental insurance and am currently on disability.  So Affordable Dentures was the answer for me.  This is my first time to find out about a denture site where we can ask other people questions.  I wish I knew about this site 3 yrs ago so I wouldn't feel so clueless.  Hope this helps you.  Sorry for the length.

Sandi, your not bugging me at all. I don't get on my computer too often that is why you may not get a response right away. I typed to you it wouldn't go thru so I typed again and I think I hopefully answered some of your questions further down under another section on same subject.  I don't want to repeat myself too much.   Maybe it went thru now you have too many words from me, oops sorry. Sounds like I am the only one who had difficulties with the Bakersfield office. take care, Colleen

I used Affordable Dentures just last week. I had 11 extractions on top and alveoplasty so that a slight overbite wouldn't make me look like Mr. Ed.Lol. They were very nice. Wouldn't exactly say I felt "herded" but they were very efficient. You go in very early...call for an "appointment"  several days ahead of time. If they know you are coming, you are first on their list. I was treated very gently and things were explained very well at the office I went to. It will be one week tomorrow since I had it done and immediate denture put in. Was back at work yesterday...on my feet and greeting my customers. They have several different packages to choose from that include your "real denture" after you have healed and follow up visits included in the price. Good Luck.  I am brand new to this site, and am sooo very glad that I found it. I found LOTS of information that I needed.

Sandi, I just finished typing you a two paragraph letter and for some reason I was unable to get it submitted.  I'll try again.  Yes they give you a pill and I don't remember them doing their work at all.  By the time we got home (5 hr drive) I was awake and still out of the picture.  Pain hadn't started yet. I left their office with a temporary set of dentures and pain pills.  My two friends that had same procedure done (different denture place) told me they didn't get a temporary set the new ones were put in same day teeth were pulled.  I also had implants put in my bottom gums.  My father passed away my mother used his insurance money to pay for my dentures. Yesterday she told me maybe she should of spent the kind of money my area was asking for (the big bucks). maybe my dentures would have fit me better.  You have to have some one go with you to drive you home. Different people have different pain levels. I'm a wuss.  Western Dental (don't know if they are only in CA) they offer dentures to people on Disability and/or low income.  Several yrs ago Medi-cal/Medicaid paid for a portion of the work that was done on me. I had front teeth pulled and a partial denture made. Then Medi-cal stopped covering teeth for adults in California. I know they do payment plans, stuff like that. Medicare will not pay for any portion.  Personally I'd be kinda scared to go to a dental school. When I was in college dental schools offered free cavity removeal only so I don't know about other procedures offered as other person wrote to you.  If you go to Affordable Dentures it depends on what type of plan or teeth you want.  They have different type teeth, different shades.  If you chose not to have implants the price goes down lots.  I need to go back maybe my dentures would fit better I just don't want to go thru the hassle.  I'm sure the other Affordable Denture offices are better than the experience I had.  Write any time you want.  I wish I could find an adhesive that would work all day.

My uppers spend most of the time in my pocket or sitting on a table.  I sure hope these comments SUBMIT this time around.  3rd time is a charm they say.  God Bless

medi-cal/which is denti-cal is now covering dentures as of july 2016 they will cover $1700. If you go to affordable dentures you can get a nice set or single plus extractions for about this price.

Wow Patti I apologize for my earlier comment. Times sure have changed. Back in my day dental schools weren't that fancy. I have a 98 yr old girlfriend she had partial dentures put in and her Dental Insurance paid for part of it. Now that I think abut it she didn't have implants put in. So I better just shut my toothless mouth read and learn.

I live in Tn and I just had my lower teeth pulled at affordable dentures. First time around withe the uppers I went to the Dentist and oral surgeon but it cost so much and I am on disability. That's why I picked affordable dentures and even my dentist recommended them. My only problem was that they do not put you to sleep or give you ANY kind of medication to help you thru the process! In fact, when I found out, after waiting for two hours, I left and spent a sleepless night trying to calm myself for it since the price was so much cheaper. Went back the next day and with nothing but novacaine had 13 teeth pulled. It was horrible and I looked like I had been in a fight after it was over from the bruising. They give you an excellerant to get you numb faster and even tho they warned me ahead of time, I was shaking so bad that they had to wrap me in a sheet to keep the chair still. Having said that, I do have to add that the follow up care has been wonderful! I got all the extractions, temp dentures for upper and lower, all follow up care for 6 mos including the perm. dentures once all is healed, for 2100.00. I went thru CareCredit here in Tn and if I can pay it off in a year I won't pay any interest. You can find a place like that in every state. I also want to add that not ALL affordable dentures are the same. The one in Memphis put you to sleep for extractions and you could make appts. instead of everyone arriving at one time at 8am and waiting for your turn. I picked the one I did because it was the only one in my area that was recommended by the BBBurea. I suggest calling them where ever you go in mass like that. So I guess all in all, it had its good points and bad and for me it was the one I could afford.

I love Affordable Dentures! Without dental insurance or a wad a cash, I am grateful for them. I had 18 extractions via my regular dentist a month ago (sliding scale fee so it was much cheaper than having AD do it), a week later I had my temps (full, top & bottom) from AD. I've been back approx. once a week for adjustments and was given a soft reline on the bottom last week. They fit great (after each adjustment, lol), look great, but my gums are still a tad too sore to eat anything but soft foods. I do believe YMMV depending on the location (franchises?). The location I use only takes appointments, and I have not had long waits (to get an appt or when I've arrived for one). I recommend AD to those without financial resources and/or insurance (I also utilized CareCredit, as Dale did, for part of my AD charges).

For those who are considering Affordable Dentures:

Be sure to check the local review for your area's office, as reviews vary widely.  Some locations have stellar reviews, others do not.  It is also wise to check 3rd party websites for reviews, so you can be assured they are non-biased.  Some have great experiences, some do not.

I went to Affordable Dentures in NC when I started on this path and had to get partials.  I will say they were affordable, but I cannot say I was overly thrilled with the service or the outcome.  Essentially, they ran an "assembly line" operation: get the patient in, do the work, and get them out as quickly as possible.  The dentist was extremely rough, did not inform me of a great many things (my sight flashed for a moment due to the numbing and I was terrified), and generally didn't seem to care.

After my extractions, I had a lot of bleeding, but the dentist said he wasn't going to do any more sutures and I should see my regular physician in the morning if I was still bleeding.  It stopped by morning, but I bled so bad, I vomited clotted blood due to having swallowed it in my sleep.  My temporary partials were crammed into my mouth with little regard for my extreme discomfort (and I have a very high threshold of pain).

When I received my permanent set of partials, they never fit particularly well, regardless of how many times I had them adjusted.  The staff simply didn't seem to care whatsoever, and though they were fairly courteous, there was a general sense of "you got what you paid for, now live with it" mentality.  Given my low income at the time, that is just what I did, lived with it.

I now have full dentures, which I purchased at Aspen Dental in Ohio, and could not be more pleased.  Once again, reviews are mixed, but it depends on the location.  They aren't as cheap as Affordable Dentures, but after my prior experience and knowing I had to get full dentures, I went through considerable effort to save every penny I could.  I liked the staff, the dentist was very honest and no-nonsense, he didn't try to push anything on me I didn't want, or sugar-coat the experience.

As previously stated, it all depends on location.  Hope this helps!
