I had my natural teeth removed 10months ago and had serious problems after they placed teeth in after removal my dentures were so tight that by the next day when I took them off I noticed that my whole bottom jaw was exposed. The dentist who made them blamed the dentist who pulled them and vise versa. All I was told was I couldn't wear top or bottom set till the Jaw bone that was exposed basically died and fell out which took 5months I had 2 learn 2 eat without them bc I couldn't take soft food anymore. Now I feel like it's impossible 2 eat with the dentures in I don't know what 2 do and I constantly gag so it really makes it difficult 2 eat with them in. Plz help me out I'm desperate I'm only 31 I want 2 enjoy going 2 restaurants and outings again.

What a horrible experience you have been through!

I wish I could offer some bits of wisdom, but in all honesty other than the steak that I had been looking forward to for over a year and the egg McMuffin I had when they fixed my hard reline, I have lost my appetite. I don't think it's because of the dentures, I think it has to do with my meds.

I guess maybe try some shredded beef or pork, Voila is easy enough to eat, as are most pasta dishes. You don't have to chew these things but they aren't "soft foods" either.

Good luck!

Oh Carol, how awful. I wonder, do you gag only when trying to eat? I feel like maybe the gag reflex is triggered by the chewing action but not so much otherwise. My first thoughts about how to help are to visit your dentist to discuss your problem. The solution could be as simple as trimming the very back edge of your denture. This can often provide much needed relief and is a very quick and easy fix. Best of luck to you. Please let us know how this plays out for you.

Hi Carol, Hope things improve for you. Go for an adjustment and ask them to trim some of the PPS. That should eliminate your gagging issue.

It's better now I still have trouble wearing the bottoms I feel as if they rub 2 much and the gagging is more along the physiological if I don't think about it I'm absolutely fine
