How do these dentures look on me. I hate the poofyness on my top lip area. Why do they look poofy. Do I need to take them back in to make it thinner? And my dentured are not straight. Just got these yesterday. Do they start looking natural?

I think they look great. If you got them your gums will shrink more and they'll start fitting better. Mine did.

You have nice smile. If you had your teeth removed recently, then with the dentures in, they may feel puffy. With them out you may not notice it as much. It does take a bit of time for everything to fall into place. And since you just got them you may be more aware of them since you feel them. To me I honestly think they look great. The dentist or the tech in office, will be making adjustments as your gums heal. I suppose they explained that.

If you are getting lower dentures consider have snap on's with implants. Lower dentures are more difficult to wear and implants make them more stable

They look fine. Ya gotta give them 3 mo. min. for the fit to begin to set in. I always think I have "Monkey Lip" when I first install my upper in the AM. They did a good job on the tooth size.

Looks great! I felt I looked like Snake Woman after I got mine, was puffy. 2 weeks later I feel better. I don't feel as if I look unnatural any longer.
You will have some swelling that will eventually go down and as denture dude makes your adjustments they'll start feeling better.

I think they look good. It takes a while for the swelling to go down and they will feel more comfortable.

Your new teeth look fabulous! Don't forget, other people don't dwell on what we look like and aren't as critical of what our new teeth look like as we are. It's natural to be self-conscious. I am too. Also, if you think about it, until you were told you needed dentures, how often did you focus on other people's teeth? Mine were starting to look bad, so I noticed people with perfect teeth and envied them. As I was dealing with the prospect of dentures, I would look at people with awesome teeth and wondered if they were real (especially older people), but I couldn't tell one way or the other. Young people with perfect teeth assume yours are real because dentures aren't on their radar. We're the lucky ones who could afford to do something about it. I work with two people whose teeth are in serious trouble and I feel so bad for them. Yes, dentures suck, but not as bad as noticeably bad teeth. I'm only five days past my extractions and it's quite an adjustment. Yes, it's depressing, but I was out of options. My close friends have been very supportive and don't know that I had full extractions. I just told them I was starting a restoration process. No one needs to know that you have dentures unless you tell them. My boyfriend is the only one who knows the whole story. Everyone else assumes veneers, bridges, implants, etc., which apparently come with less of a stigma than dentures. I work with a lady who has partials with all the silver wires that scream I have dental issues! I never really noticed until I faced the prospect of dentures. She's in her late 30s and very pretty. I confided in her that I was facing something similar and she told me how she lost everything during the recession of 2010 and couldn't afford to do anything about her teeth. That's what happened to me too so we formed a bond! When she saw my new teeth she was envious that I didn't have the silver wires that come with partials, lol. When I went into detail about the sore spots and slippage she felt better about her situation. I'm learning to smile again, which is worth so much! Hang in, yours look beautiful!

They are very nicely shaped teeth and your smile is pretty, but the midline is way off.. It should not be centered over a front tooth, but should be centered between the two front teeth and the center of the front bottom teeth . If you are happy, that's all that matters. My first upper was off-center and, although it bothered me, I got used to it in time. I now have a new upper (just got lowers too for the first time) and the midline is dead centered between my 2 front teeth and match the center of my front bottoms as well. I was very explicit to my dentist regarding the front teeth being centered and she did a fantastic job and I'm very happy with how they look. Good luck and enjoy your new smile!

Hey Nancy, good catch, I see that her midline is off a bit now, but I didn't notice until you spotted it. Most people probably wouldn't, but no one should have to settle for something that isn't right! She still looks very pretty, and over all, the teeth suit her.

My midline looks just like yours! They sit a little to the left. Not terribly, and not enough for anyone but me to notice (I only see it on you because it's pointed out). I'm only at 1 week today, so I know I'm still swollen and not settled yet. But I do understand how you feel. If I can't get these centered on top I'm going to make damn sure my permanents are.
Your smile is beautiful. :-)

And I envy those of you who. Think their lips look poofy. I think my dentures are too small. I never had wrinkles around my lips before I got dentures. My lips are now thinner and wrinkly. I think I look like an old lady, and I hate that,

I feel the wrinkle thing too ...it's so annoying. I need botox or something and juvederm because it makes my top lips thin and dents have aged me like 10 years.

I never felt they made me look puffy either. My lips are definitely smaller now. I've got a killer wrinkle above my lip when they're not in, and it's starting to show when they are in. I'm hoping to get my perms made with larger teeth.

This is exactly what I was thinking about I'm on day 3 so super swollen today but my top is puffy but I was thinking they can take some off but not put it on right, and later as my gum and bone shrinks the top puffiness might be good thing!

Hi Jeannette
Good for you that you are happy
i you have both your upper denture and a lower denture.
If you feel comfortable doing it, it would b helpful if you could share more details, like the cost of the work and the extent of the work you had done. And wether it was a chain Dental group or an individual dentist and any other details that you are comfortable sharing
Thanks
Barbara

I've had my upper plate now for 8 weeks. I was told not to use adhesive for the first 2 to 3 weeks. I waited about 2 weeks and started using a trial size of Polident that the dentist had gave me. I noticed some puffiness in my upper lip as well but my gums were throbbing constantly all day and seem to be inflamed all the time. Went back a few times for adjustments on sore spots but the throbbing never seem to go away during the day. After talking with a friend at work I decide to try the Fixodent powder which worked great and the throbbing and inflammation went away , but I was always having trouble removing them at night. I went back to the Polident and the throbbing started back up again within two days. Spoke to a pharmacist and was told I was probably having an allergic reaction 2 something in the Polident and yes the puffiness came back with it. So then I tried the liners couldn't get them cut properly then decided to try the Fixodent cream. So far I've been pleased with it no more throbbing no more puffiness and it's been a few weeks. The only issue I seem to have is getting the adhesive removed completely from my plate.

Even after 2 years I have trouble taking off the excess glue from my plates. Especially the top. I use secure adhesive and it works great for me. When I had my temps I used the powder but then it wouldn’t hold anymore due to my gums healing. So I switched to secure. I also use the fixodenf with scope for my bottoms and that holds pretty well. You just kinda have to scrape it off. I use my nails to take it off and then put it in a napkin because if it goes down the drain it’ll clog it up. Good luck to you.

I have the same problem. The reason i had to get my teeth out was because i have severe eat. disorder and was already paranoid about my round face. I have dentures now and don't even wear them because they make my throat dry and how puffy they make my cheeks look....Yours though, look really good. You have nice lips too .

The upper lip looks natural. I honestly think that the teeth are not lined up correctly but if your mouth adjusts as time goes by, you'll be fine!!

You are beautiful but don't let ANYONE tell you that you have to settle for less than perfect. These are absolutely crooked and time won't change that. My first set looked horrible and fit just like these do on you and i complained. They didn't want to fix them so I started leaving reviews on any platform I could and within days they invited me in for new impressions and I now have a set of dentures (top and bottom) that fit right and look good. Don't settle for less. These are your TEETH we are talking about. You paid for perfection, not half assed or crooked. PERIOD. Do NOT do that to yourself. Time will NOT fix crooked. Get them replaced and if they won't then start singing... Yelp, Google, every single review site out there AND tell them you are contacting the state dental board in your state. It works but you have to do the work. Good luck.

I am so impressed that you got your dentist to make the appropriate changes by complaining on platforms
People on this blog need information and help in leaning how to do that
Please tell us where you complained and what you said
And when you see some one struggling on these blogs with that problem tell them how you solved your problem
Thanks

i have dental that comes from being reitired on s.s. that will cover the new full upper and lower partial i need but i opted to try to save a little every mo. and i don't make much so it's not easy-i saw a prosthodontist for a consult and he said he could help me but at the first appt., he has his 'assistant' who was really nice-but i could tell-she was 'learning' and when she took my upper impression-i knew it wasn't good but i din't say anything. not sure why-anyway..... i didn't go there to have an asssitant making them-i could have gone to one of the million dentists who take my ins.-mr. arrogant prosthodontist came in once in a while to 'see how we were doing'.....after appt. 4 and 2 wax try-ins and the 2nd was worse than the first-i said 'this isn't working' my heart was 'pounding' and i asked 'the assistant' to go get the MR. ARROGANT PROSTHODONTIST'....she did-i told him "i could go anywhere and work with an assistant" and i told her NO OFFENSE because she was 'really nice' and have my ins. pay but i came 'here' because i thought YOU would be able to make me a natural smile that fits-he said 'DULY NOTED' ......i then asked for all my money back and he gave it to me right there-that was 4 months ago and i came home-feeling defeated-i know too much about how this works now-i worked in a dental lab for 2 yrs. before i retired-he makes crappy ONE SIZE FITS ALL dentures-if anyone knows someone in so. cal. who 'has a clue' i'd love to know-thank you and i 'feel' for all of you.

First I want to say that I am very impressed about the way you handled this and got your refund
I think you should find a dentist that takes your insurance and I am sure there is a good one out there for you
I would also consider over dentures clipped on to implants The implants would be your cost and not covered by the insurance

As for poofy, I'm worried about that myself. I just got all my upper teeth out (only had 11 left) but no dentures yet. The extra gum is bound to stick out a little, I'm hoping it's more noticeable for you than others.
Good luck & keep us posted...
