Hi Kevin! It definitely varies person to person for when you will be able to eat comfortably again. Some people experience quite a bit of pain and swelling after extractions, and have to wait longer before they can chew. These people typically rely on a diet of broths and breakfast drinks for several days. Others have little to no pain and are eating soft foods within a day of their extractions. Some foods you may be able to try include scrambled eggs, mashed or baked potatoes, soups, oatmeal, and pudding, but make sure to follow any instructions your dentist gave you. There’s also quite a few recipes and suggestions on this forum you might find helpful. As for long term, many people report that they are back to eating their favorite foods normally within a month. Hope this helps, and best of luck!

I had my teeth extracted a week ago.  My dentist told me liquid diet for 2 weeks.  I get my first liner next week.  I dreaded not being able to eat because I love food.  LOL, but it really wasn't hard, I drink lots of water, drink lots of breakfast drinks and occasionally eat mashed potatoes/soup.  I have a few sore spots but it takes patience.  Hang in there Kevin it will get easier.

I want to be honest. My experience was tough. I lost 80 pounds. I couldn't eat with my temp denture. The permanent one (a year later) I am disappointed with because dentist told me I wouldn't need glue. I paid $1,500 for all of this and after I got the permanent  one, my dentist never even explained how to care for them. I went back for a check up and he thought I wanted it to be realigned. Well I was only their to follow up and now I don't know how to stand up for myself and say anything. However, I need to find a way or I am going to lose more weight.  I lived off pancakes. I hope you have a better experience.

I started yesterday which was my 5th day. I ate a hamburger and fries. I just broke it Into little pieces and put a piece on each side to chew. I was sooooo hungry. I don't know how some people can wait a couple of weeks to a month to start eating regular food. I would go crazy.
