I am curious. Do your dentures give you a similar smile compared to the one you had prior to you teeth extractions¿

I just had my teeth pulled and the temporary denture put in. My smile is not even close to the one I had with my own teeth. My original teeth were bigger. My smile had no guns showing and my tongue had room to move around.I also have trouble pressing my lips together. My smile right now is not even close to my original smile. I want to know if I am being realistic or not. I had envisioned a different smile than the one I have.something more natural.

You will get your regular smile back towards the end of the process. In the beginning my smile looked nothing like I was used to looking. Now that I have had my perms for several months I'm back to normal.

It just takes time. New dentures are a long process.

Mine is totally different because the dentures seem to have smaller teeth.  But, as I am over 60, it wasn't about looks as much as comfort and having useful teeth.  Mine are permanently secured implant dentures so I'm not too interested in trying to have them done over to get a different smile.  They are utterly comfortable and work perfectly.   I will take 2 out of 3.  I didn't really spend time imagining having a great smile.  More like not having a plainly ugly smile if that makes sense.

I was devastated when i first looked in the mirror and i hated the way i looked. I had a totally different picture in my head. My mouth and lips were swollen and didnt come together. Also my teeth looked different. My immediate dentures are/were also my permanent dentures so i knew i wouldn't be getting another set. After about 2 weeka swelling went down a ton and they felt better in my mouth. Now its been four months and i truly love my smile. Its a lot to get use to at first but give it a bit of time and if youre still unhappy with it i would bring it up to your dentist.

My dentist was going to do a free of charge hard reline for me but he asked if i was pleased with the aesthetics of my denture before, which i am. I hope you eventually find happiness from your new smile. After everything we go through for these things its a must!
