Hi James, sorry to hear that you are in so much pain! Especially if you’ve had recent extractions, the denture can act like a bandage that controls swelling. So, when you take them out to clean them, they can be difficult to get back in. One thing you can try is rinsing your mouth with warm salt water—this can help with pain and inflammation. If pain persists, you can also call your dentist. Sore spots on the gums are unfortunately common with new dentures. This thread might be helpful to you as well: https://getsatisfaction.com/dentureliving/topics/when_can_i_expect_to_interact_after_getting_new_den...
I hope this helps! As you heal, the pain and discomfort you have should get better. Best of luck!

i heard from living with dentures real life stories from a woman who said if you put the dentures in the freezer just enough for them to get cold, then it becomes easier to put them on and the cold denture numbs the pain on the gums

Hi Joy, my sister in Florida told me she did that and I asked my dentist about it and he said no do not do that to your denture the extreme cold could cause it to break.

Try some used black tea bags or rinse with tea. The salt water rinses help a lot.
Willow extract helped me a lot with the pain. The narcs barely touched the pain. I can't do NSAIDS like ibuprofen, so I had to find something else. The Tylenol was effective but didn't last long, and you can't take much without destroying your liver.

I found CBD oil helpful as well. Oh, and  drinking red tea (rooiboos) seemed to help.

Does the dentist have an emergency number? If so, call. If not, call first thing on Monday.

Agree with Elizabeth that the freezer might not be a good idea.
