I understand. It is very depressing. If I don't have to go out I leave mine out. I put on make up especially blush and lipstick. I practice in the mirror not sucking in my lips. It is sad to have to do this but it helps me. I am 74 and still care very much how I look. I feel really bad for you young women dealing with this. Don't give up, it takes time. Write to me anytime.

Put them in once a day or every other day. I have not had a problem doing that.
I used to cry every day so I understand.

Good Evening, I have been wearing a top denture for 19 months and I am still uncomfortable(appearance wise) and very self conscious about my smile, eating in public and at home in front of my family and friends. I choose to eat with them in so I don't get used to eating without them(although I do enjoy my food better without them but I know that's not what I should be doing). I am told always they look nice and natural but I think it's just me being in my early 40's feeling this should not have been my only option. Will I ever get used to having them? I hope so because I consider myself to be young but not as young as others. I also have to get a bottom partial. I sure could use some helpful tips and a boost of confidence. Thank you

The only other option is implants. Most people do well but all don't. They are also expensive and it's a long process. Make sure your denture fits well and has been relined. I totally understand your feelings. It is not something anyone of us expects in life. Looking good is important just try to realize that many have it a lot worse. But I understand how tough it is on the emotions. Our new normal......

I'm a 30 year old guy due to health problems I had to have all my teeth extracted at once I had dentures put in the same day. This was 5 1/2 months ago. For the first 3 months I drank stuff like ensure and muscle milk for the protein that helps your mouth heal a lot quicker. The first week I stayed on a liquid diet mashed potatoes, apple sauce ect. At first It was painful yes but it's worth it in the long run an I have learned how to deal with them better later on. Remember those should be temporary and the new ones in 6 to 8 months will feel worlds apart in comfort. But for now i would wait a week for the major swelling to go down and ask for tissue conditioner as its softer material then a reline and they are able to do it multiple times with out adding a bunch of bulk to the dentures. And fyi the bottoms will not fit well until you get your permanent teeth. I hope that help and I'm sure you are still a pretty woman.

Rinse with salt water just before bed. The next morning should be better. Also you can get the stuff you apply as if you had a toothache (anbesol)

I have only two of my own teeth left and before I received uppers and lowers, I ate soft ,mushie and fattening foods(donuts, cakes, mash this ,mash that, etc. When I got the teeth not only was I tickle but had to remind myself that I could now chew carrots, peanuts, celery, baked chicken, etc. So don't worry about how you look, realize that the teeth keeps your face from sagging and that you are able to eat nutritionally.
