I recently tried Fixodent. The hold wasn't as tight as I am used to and I had difficulty removing adhesive from my plate. Advice??

I've always used Seabond. I've had a full upper plate since I was 19, I am now 37. I have recently tried your product via a hospital stay where they had small tubes. I figured why not. One issue I found was that the hold wasn't quite as tight as I like/am used to (maybe not enough?), also had difficulty getting adhesive off my plate the next day. I do not overnight soak, I use the 3 minute Polident in the mornings when I brush. Advice??

Hi there, glad to hear that you had the opportunity to try Fixodent! The recommended amount of denture adhesive for an upper denture is three or four dabs (the size of a pencil eraser) on the part of the denture that fits against the roof of your mouth. If there is residue lingering on the denture after it is removed, brushing the plate with a soft bristled toothbrush and warm water should take care of it. Also, if you browse this forum, others have mentioned other techniques that might work better for you. I hope this answers your questions, and thanks for posting!

WriteI use an overnight soaking tablet  (like efferdent) and in the morning any remaining fixodent just slides right off.   If you don't want to do it overnight, just soak them for several minutes in the tablet and warm water.  That should work fine. a reply
