I think my dentures were made awful - ask for a new one?

I had immediate dentures put in few days ago (Thursday) but the denture seems very poorly made.

Right next to the teeth, there's 1/2-1/4 inch shelf before a sharp curve into the roof and there's no tongue space to a point speaking certain words that pushes the tongue or even swallowing is hard.

The edges of top and roof are thick, uneven and has an edge that causes a lot of pain. It looks like the material is folded at the edge instead of being smooth. The entire gum part is uneven, textured and even transparent in areas and doesn't have the cut out on top middle to allow lip/gum skin stretch any room so it's been rubbing sore. The entire top of the denture is a straight line.

My main concern is the roof area as I have no tongue space. Next are the edges that are causing great deal of pain. The other is the uneven gum area and that the front pushes out so I can't close my mouth.

I go back in on Monday and I feel like I need them to make a new one, especially for the tongue room. I did a lot of research and looked at lots of pictures and I haven't found one that looks like mine with sharp roof and straight even top.

Anyone have experience with this?

I just got one made on Friday. I'm Kind of in the same Boat as you but these are my first. On Monday when I go I am going to have my dentist make some adjustments. My biggest one is the thickness of the back. I tend to gag a lot and the front lip seems thick. But hopefully you are in the same boat I am in and these are all things you know what you want to change on your permanent denture. Not sure if it helps. But this is a great place for advice

Hanna, I am in the same boat with you. I posted pictures of my freaky upper plate with NO tongue room. I am 30 days in and it's been hell. I went to Affordable and after begging to have them remade due to the poor tooth set up (wrong size teeth, way too wide smile.....) that has caused jaw pain and enormous gland swelling....I was basically told to "forget my old smile "......"adjust to this"......no antibiotics or anything for the gland swelling....their answer.....keep trimming away. Now my lower front teeth basically have no acrylic below them. The side flanges above have eaten into my cheeks and gums, and they rock so bad that the roof of my mouth is bruised. The assistant said "you need to use a lot of adhesive". Ugh....I literally have to coat these things to get them to stay in my mouth and they still flop. I am going to aspen tomorrow ....hopefully they can help. I hope your situation doesn't get as bad as mine!

I paid upfront....2400 for extractions....90 for X-ray and 1885. For new denture wearer pkg. I submitted the receipts etc to my insurance company. I should get 1500.00 back. Still leaves me short. Hoping to get aspen to agree how poorly fitting these are then get started with immediates. Once immediates are made I plan on taking the currents back to affordable and getting the 1885 back. If they won't refund me I will dispute the charge with my credit card company....meanwhile I will have to apply for care credit to get things started I guess.

To get a refund I imagine affordable will take custody of the immediates. I am horrified about being without teeth until I can get new ones made . Maybe I should find some face masks? Walmart? Walgreens?

Thank you I appreciate it. I will post asap. I am sick over this whole thing. I really worry for the elderly that don't have access to the Internet to research and may be incapable of speaking out. This has to stop! From what I have read, and feel ,it appears that the dentures are compressing salivary ducts.
