The clinic i went to didn't give me any information about caring for the softliner in my immediate denture. Do i leave it in water overnight or not. Conflicting info. Dont keep your dentures in overnight, dont let your dentures dry out,,dont soak the softliner in water. ..what is accurate information? Thx

Hey Leslie,  The 1st day you get the soft liner you should keep the denture in your mouth over night. The liner is still soft so you want to give it a chance to harden a bit. After the 1st night it's always important to take your dentures out over night and yes have them soak in water. This allows you to maintain the gums you have left for as long as you can. It lets your gums breathe...almost like taking your socks off. Sorry for the example. Just in case you don't know you also shouldn't clean your dentures with toothpaste. It has an abrasive in it that can ruin them through time. Liquid hand soap or dish soap works great and just a good rinse. One more tip...through some time your soft liner may feel hard, you can run your denture under luke warm water before placing in your mouth to help soften it a bit. I hope I answered everything on your post and this helps. :)

I just had upper teeth pulled yesterday. My dental clinic said to leave in for 48 hours and remove. I am so glad I had 7 teeth pulled and have no pain and didn't use pain meds. My question is how should I try to remove upper denture without loosening the clots and end up with a dry socket..? I had a great denture guy they fit so nice and tight. If you can I need suggestions asap. I need to take them out tmrw morning and do a first rinse. Etc. thanks, juli

Rinse gently with salt water, rock them to loosen, take out and rinse again. If they are still tight don't force them, just work hem loose. Once you break the seal they should come out pretty easily.

I'm so sorry that I didn't see all these messages. Shay I Believe you've already got extractions. Irma how can I help you? Juli it's always best to have them remove the denture first in case you can't get it back in but in this case take your thumbs to the back and index fingers in the front and try and rock it. Before you do that plug your nose and close your mouth and blow. That will help break suction for your upper. Hope this helps. Oh and plenty of salt water rinses.

I actually removed the first liner myself 2 days after I got it. It peeled right out. It was so awful !!! So thick it and low, it was the first time i gagged with the denture. There wasn't room for my tongue! The teeth were cutting into my bottom lip. I have buffed and adjusted it a bit myself and it made it much more comfortable. I went to school for cosmetology and have done nails for years working with acrylics. I buff it to a beautiful shine and im good to go. Its amazing just how little needs taken off to relieve pressure. I did a far better job adjusting it than that assistant who did the awful liner. She left spots sharp and rough. She has no business working with dentures. I wore it all day yesterday no problems. Thanks for the info. Definitely in water at night!

They send me an email "tell us how we did" an the option of Yelp...this must have been automated, but i went there and left details of everything. I did leave that the immediate denture looks nice, but its the lack of professionalism/skill of the assistant and poor office management with scheduling that caused the problems. I had seen another bad review before I went there, but it was that or affordable and I knew a girl who had gone there and they really messed her over and wouldn't fix it. The problem is big corporations that franchise out and then don't make sure that these owners are up to snuff. Its all about money anymore and not customer service in any business. So sad.

Yep, I've noticed dentists are getting more and more like used car salesmen. It's question of how much they can get any individual to pay - the price appears to be flexible if you're prepared to push your luck.  This should not be how things work when it comes to health services, but I've noticed it more  over the last 5 yrs or so.. even with something like having a varicose vein removed, there was this flexibility with the pricing depending on how much they thought they could get out of you.   jeez haven't come across that since I was arguing over the price of a dress in a Jerusalem flea market in 1971 ..

That's great Leslie! Good job. That's unfortunate that you experienced that. The law here is that only the licensed Denturist can tend to the patient...for example I can assist him with the "hands on work" in the lab but not in the Op with the patient in the chair. There are different types of material used for liners as well and yes I have heard there are ones that can fall out or just tear it out yourself. You're right it's amazing how 1mm in the mouth is like a mile and the smallest adjustment can work wonders!

U know Leslie I get my nails done a lot and I also have filed on my top denture. I filed on the palate and it made a huge difference. I made it a little thinner and I have great suction without the adhesives. I wear secure adhesive so I can eat and what not. But yea I don't recommended anyone start filing away unless u know what ur doing. These are my temps so I don't wanna ruin them because I won't get my permanents for another 3 months or so

Hi Gina2, I got your second email and clicked on the view reply and it's not bringing me there so maybe that is on one of the accounts that Tanya, one of the moderators said she disabled for me. When I went to my profile it tells me profile information and then that's it all I can do was show what my profile says but I can go to the bottom and then it's just blank so I don't know if is different if you're on a computer versus the phone I have only been using my phone for this stuff. But I want to say thank you for trying to help me I do appreciate it .

Sorry. Answering from my cell right now and not the greatest. I'll try and get back to you later from my computer. Gagging usually occurs from the PPS (Post Palatal Seal) it's the back of your denture closest to your throat from left to right of your gums. Have you had any adjustments done there?btw you shouldn't be having that issue at this point. I'll do my best to guide you with suggestions.

Carol you might have to have the denture shortened and tapered in the back on the upper, it's like a peace of taffy to far in your mouth you can gag on it

Your dentist shouldn't be telling you to "get used to it" you can have it adjusted and have some acrylic removed in that back. They can only take a way to a certain point that you don't lose your suction. Tell him to do it! You paid for them and he has to make you feel comfortable.

I'm sorry to hear that Carol. Things are different from the states and canada I noticed from this forum. We typically don't offer 2 sets so maybe they're just telling you that's what you have to deal with for now. Typically, you should never need to use adhesive on an upper so let's say your permanent one. You should be able to go for adjustments. And the adjustments will help in the mean time while you wait for your permanent. Hopefully you've had a soft liner at this point to hepf with the fit " TEMPORARILY" until you get your permanent. Hope this helps. If not don't hesitate to ask....:)

Yes and what I mean is what I posted above. Sometimes even after your sodtliner you will need an adjustment. Chances are you may need several. Hang in there. Call for an adjustment and ask them to remove some of the pps. The backbparr.t. Let me know if I answered your question as best that I can. Sorry strull on my phone. Hard to see.

So this is what they gave me after. Appointment was at 1145 they changed it to 130 due to being behind schedule. Get there at 130 and they say leave them here come back at 430. Ugh. I love this place but the receptionist is just rude and no sympathy. I told her I've been without bottom denture for almost a week and u keep doing this to me. It's not my fault ur behind schedule and I can't keep coming in when u like.

Hey Lizzy I'm at work now and was able to expand your pic. I showed my boss as well.  It's the same denture. What we noticed though is they didn't complete the job. You don't have a labial freenum like you used to and I see bumps of acrylic all along the bottom of the denture. That's supposed to be trimmed, pumiced and then polished. Key steps in any process.

Teeth are crooked and some are long and some r short. Didn't fit right so they kept doing adjustments and I said maybe another reline would help because they feel very ugly and she's like ur gonna feel like that and I'm like I had no problems before. Bite was off and they feel ok but they don't fit snug like they used to.

Josie, I was wondering how I know if my dentures were really made right? On my uppers the palate comes down way towards the teeth. Not much back of the teeth are showing. So due to this I feel I will never be able to talk right. It's been 2 1/2 weeks since I had 21 teeth extracted and got my immediates. I've been in twice plus the day after check up for adjustments. I've told them the problem I have with that. I just feel they aren't made right and they aren't going to tell me if they are. I still can't eat. Got to use a straw. Tried to eat some applesauce with a spoon but they both like come loose and I can't do it. I'm getting so frustrated. I need to get a job but can't go for interviews when I can't talk. I'm getting really depressed. I just feel something isn't right with them. Also besides sore spots ive also have been having pain in my gums. It almost feels like a tooth ache. When I yawn or move my mouth a certain way I have pain. Also it hurts at times in the back roof of my mouth like the palate is digging in. I have an appointment tomorrow. I guess I got to be firmer and that with them. I just wish I knew for sure if they are suppose to be like this as they tell me. Just wish I had something to compare too. I am suppose to have comfilytes immediate dentures and then in 6 months get the permanent comfilytes. I wonder if I really got comfilytes or did I get cheap immediate. If they are made wrong do they make you another set of you just got to deal with these until I get my permanent ones in October. I'm hungry! I want to be able to eat and TALK! At this point I feel I will never eat or talk normal again. So depressed. I just want to cry. I'm regretting what I've dond

Hi Marcia, sorry for the late response. It's been crazy at the office. It's hard to tell when you're not here in person and can't see the denture. When you get immediates usually the don't seem to be your denture as your gums will be receding quite a bit for the 1st 6 mths.  I've heard that before that they don't leave much in the back area of the teeth. Usually that makes it difficult to chew. If you're having that problem ask them to adjust and trim some of the pink acrylic so it can improve your chewing. It's common when any one gets immediates to go for adjustments often. Don't give up. You're normal and not crazy.  Your gums will be shrinking really fast and then slower at the final stage. If you can buy some adhesive that will help keep the dentures in place. I'm not sure about the products for dentures in the USA. I work in a Clinic in ON, Canada so for the comfilytes maybe someone on this forum can help you. If the palate is digging in it may be too deep. Ask them to adjust you PPS (Post Palatal Seal). Once you've healed in 6 mths things will get better. Hang in there! How did your appt go? Hope this helps.

Hey guys. How have u all been. It's been a while since I've posted. Having a problem. I'm 5 months in and my lower left side hurts so bad. Like if I have a toothache. Went to the dentist and took X-rays and nothing is there. She did some adjustments and all seemed fine but it has come back. Like I can't eat and when I press on it, it hurts. Feels like a real bad toothache. I don't know what else to do. I'm going June 6 to get my peanents but I want to get this fixed.

Hey Lizzy, I showed the pic to my boss. He said your uppers look good! You have alot of bone on the lower which is good. It's so hard to tell by the pic. Quality of the pic not great. If you're talking about the inside of your gum where you're pointing that looks red it's a sore in our opinion. Hope this helps. :) Sometimes you should sit there for a little bit and concentrate after they did an adjustment to see if you feel discomfort because you may need more adjusting in that spot.
