Ive had my dentures for a year and I hate them, I spent and got the best dentures
they fit great my bottomes no problems because I have them hooked to my 2 eye teeth, the problem I have are my uppers they fit well but I hate the fact that the dentures cover my upper pallet which in turn causes me to gag and just makes
me feel uncomfortable all the time, which makes me depressed, I stay home a lot so I just don't bother putting them in. I do have a question is there anything the dentist can do to my upper dentures, can they cut part of the upper pallet. MRGREEK

Gus, .... go back to your dentist and ask him to ''shorten'' the pallate and roll it so that your ''gag reflex'' will stop the gagging... If the pallate is too long, it feels like you're going to swallow it... If these are your ''2nd'' plates, they should be much thinner than the first ''temporary'' plate you got at the beginning... But, definitely speak to your Dentist about this... There is ''help'' for this issue!

I have had my ''standard'' denture now since October... and will have a ''soft reline'' in a couple of weeks ...Gums are still ''re-adjusting'' to the newer denture..

Hi Gus, I know that getting used to dentures is an adjustment that can take quite some time. Gagging is a natural, protective function of the body, and it's not uncommon to gag when you first put in your dentures. The gagging should decrease, but since it's been some time, contact your dentist. Dee is right - he or she may be able to trim or adjust your dentures for relief.
Hang in there!
