My Dentures are 7 years ole. They are only uppers. Almost 5 years ago the front of my upper denture broke, when I took a bite of a Hamburger. It Horrified me! So I called the local denture dentist in Arkansas where we lived. He said Supper Glue was a denture's best friend. Since we couldn't afford $750.00 We used the Super Glue! Since I have lost a Tooth on top of it! I can't afford to pay more than $50.00 and I am Desperate. I had 1 Dental Insurance where I had to wait 2 years. They went out of business 3 weeks before i would have been able to get new dentures. but they went out of business. So I am still searching. We just moved to KC, Kansas because our house that we owned got sold from under us as we were living there. If you have any ideas - Please Help ME! Peace Be unto You ALL and GOD Bless! Jane.

Hi Jane, we're sorry to hear about the issues you're experiencing with your dentures! The best opportunity to receive low cost dentures may be to seek care from a dental school in your area, as they sometimes have clinics that provide low-cost and discounted services at the care of dental students. If there isn't a school in your area, you can try contacting your local dental society to ask whether they have any programs for low cost services.

Does anyone else have any suggestions to share with Jane?

I just went to Go2Dental and paid only $750 for top and bottoms and I was amazed how courteous and professional they were.  Of course, I just received my dentures today but they look and feel great.  I have a very small problem with learning how to wear them but fortunately someone close to me have them too and helped prepared me for everything.  Both of us agree they did an excellent job and cost less than half price of what everyone else within a 100 mile radius could have done!  I understand they are everywhere.

Hello ~ I got help from a program called Dental Options. You can search it on the internet. I live in Ohio, but they have Dental Options programs in other states as well. It is after 5:00 or I would call my contact person and ask about your state for you.

The program is not free ~ it is discounted according to your income. The dentists volunteer their services at a reduced rate. The one bad thing I found was the waiting list. I was on it for a year and 5 months. That all depends on the county you live in, number of patients and number of volunteer dentists. It was definitely worth the wait. I got all of my extractions (13 teeth), an upper and lower denture for 1,250.00 ~ which is half of the normal cost. Like I said before, they base it on your income.

That reminds me of something I meant to ask you. Did they base your income on the previous year's tax return or did they want current check stubs?

I am pretty sure they wanted current check stubs if available. I was on the waiting list for over a year, so it's been a little bit!! Are you going to try and call them next week maybe?? I hope they can help you out. I'm hoping to win the lottery soon and go ahead and get implants!!! hahaha

Jayelle ~ are you talking about the place I told you about being in New Orleans? If so, all you have to do is send the application there ~ they will set you up with a dentist close to your home. The one they found for me is only 5 min from my house.

OIC, it would work out better closer to home since I'd have to have a driver when I'm drugged and in pain, lol :)

I practice and live in Virginia. There are over 100 "free dental clinics" for the poor operating in this state. Many of them do not fabricate dentures. Some do. They are not FREE. The clinics are low fee and in some cases such a low fee, that the services are for all intent and purposes, "free". Many Churches and civic organizations will help desperate local citizens with limited dental care. To qualify for free clinics , one must provide proof of citizenship in that particular city or county, as the local municipality often provides financial support for the "free clinic" . Other documents may be required, but in the free dental clinics where I have worked...to qualify is not time consuming or difficult--provided one has a need and meets the minimum income requirements

Virginia Dental Association supports and provides "volunteer" dentists to MOM projects statewide. MOM is the abbreviation for Mission of Mercy. MOM clinics are offered in remote locations: such as Appalachia ...the coal producing areas , where poverty is widespread and there are no dentists in the immediate vicinity. These MOM clinics do provide "allura" dentures which are fabricated while the patient waits (one day clinics)...for selected edentulous patients. See if your state offers MOM clinics ; when and where they are held. Your state dental association should be able to provide that information for you.
