Is there a point in the heal process where the gum shrinkage slows?

Right now I’m a little more than 2 months into the temp denture process. From what I was told by the dentist, this is when the most rapid changes occur, other than the swelling in the couple days after surgery. I was told I can most likely get perms in the next 4 months. At what point will the gum recession start to slow? My last soft reline is getting more and more loose, so it’s still going pretty fast. I think I’ll need at least one more to hold me over

In agreement with you here...for me, not speaking professionally, I found the shrinkage worse at about the 3-4 month timeframe. It always seems that just as we get use to something, whether that be using the correct amount of adhesive, or eating comfortably, the fit, or whatever, THINGS CHANGE "AGAIN"& AGAIN... UUGGHH this process sucks at times..lol (no pun there).

Hard to believe I had it all done 70 days ago. Only around 110 days to go. That’s depressing. I shouldn’t have done the math lol.

Yessssss Lisa! People seem to start losing their marbles around 3-4 mths and get fed up. The half way mark of course. That's when it really starts testing your patience and you just want done with it already! Hang in there girl!

Don't do the math like that Chucky. 4 mths is such a smaller number. :)

I’m nine months out. The dentist wanted to do a hard reline at the six month point, but I hadn’t been able to get in there and I’m glad that I waited, because the gums have shrunk more since then. I’m finally calling this afternoon to schedule it

Hang in there Chucky! The "quick" receding will start to slow down around 6 mths. It will still recede a bit up to a yr but very slow. After that our gums recede all our life but very slowly. If you ever need a Reline after the full yr of healing most people seem to need one every 2-3 yrs. You got this! You're getting so close. :) Hope your mom is doing a bit better considering it's only been a few days.

My mom is doing better, thanks. Sore, but to be expected. I’m doing pretty well. I may have to stop using powder adhesive though. I don’t think I’m getting quite enough surface contact for it to hold as tight. Odd, holding great on my gum line, but not hold on my palate. There’s always paste. I hate it, but if you don’t have a great fit it holds better. Have an appointment on 8/1. Should be able to get by until then

I forgot how much more I like fixodent powder than fixodent goo. I got the fine tip, so hopefully it will stay and and tear the liner tonight. Let’s see how it goes today

Ok, so that stuff is a pain to get out of your mouth. Today I just put a straight line along the pps in the back and covered the rest in powder. I like it better already (as long as it keeps sticking with me)

I’m happy with the results of my little trial. What do you think (ignore the ugly mug, probably the only picture of me smiling in existence)

You look great! Those uppers look pretty good. The midline is where it should be and trust me I've seen some central teeth way off the midline. The teeth aren't big or too small either. Nice color tooth shade as well. Overall we are told that the goop seems to work the best. So with the goop we always recommend 3 dabs the size of a pea, left, right and center. Everyone has to try and see what works for them. Glad your mix up concoction lol is working for you. :)

Just took them out. Man! It was a chore. Dry them off, make one line of goo along the back, mist with a spray bottle, then powder coat. Might as well be cement lol.

Had 3 doughnuts, a cliffs bar, a burger, and Korean beef today. Never moved at all. The tech I saw last did one hell of a job. My partial is solid. Don’t even think about it much.

The info you’ve shared has been priceless. I talk to the techs and can make informed decisions. Josie, you are my hero. I can’t thank you enough!!!!
