Is This Normal

I've had my full set of dentures for about 6 weeks now uppers are no problem, lowers I've just began to wear them about 2 weeks ago. Using Fixodent Plus my lowers only last around 8-9 hours before then come loose, which makes it around dinner time. Is that the normal time for them to stay on? 2): On the illustration on how to apply it shows putting on 3 lines of Fixodent on the lowers and still have room between the lines, with my lowers I barely have enough room for 2, I have to put 1 line on the side of the denture to get 3 lines on. Is that normal or are gums that small?

my bottoms are only good for about 6 hours and that is if I DO NOT eat.  you may have to reapply the product a few times a day.  Many have this same problem you are having.  Go through the posts about this issue for tricks and tips.  Some have found solutions for an all day hold or a certain product(s) that work.  I have yet to find all day hold for the bottoms.

Are these your immediate dentures?  When did you have your extractions?  It may be time for a soft reline one you need to put A LOT of adhesive in?
Lowers can be tougher to hold in.  I never really liked Fixodent products all that much.  There are better things out there.

So my lowers last all day and are a pain in the arse to take out.  I feel like it's because of the glue method I use.  I use Fixodent Free on the bottom, and powder on the top.  (Wich usually also lasts all day).  My dentist said when gluing the bottoms to place small dots of glue along the sides near the top of the denture.  Nothing along the gum line.  So basicly when I put the denture on, the glue slides down towards the gum line but doesn't actually adhere to anything but the sides of the gums.  WOW!  It's a big help.  Especially with the gums shrinking, I have a lot more hold on my sides.  Sometimes food particles will still get in there, and that's annoying, but usually it's a really good seal.  Also- and I don't know why this is, when I do pry these suckers off, the glue is stuck to the denture and not my gums, which is a good thing because I have texture issues.  I hope I explained that well. :)

My pleasure.  I wouldn't be using glue quite yet, though.  Need to wait until the sockets heal just a bit.  I started at about the 2 and a half week mark. :)

Teeth were pulled on Feb 7, had gums healed for 8 weeks with no dentures. lowers hurt like the dickens when I first got them, took the back to be refitted about 2 weeks later, had a sore spot on lower gum so I didn't put lowers in until about a week ago. No pain now. I did buy a pkg of SeaBond but the pads seem really large for my lower denture, seems like a lot of trimming needs to be done. Also saw a commercial for Poligrip showing them only putting on 3 tabs of it on a lower instead of the 3 lines that Fixodent shows to use. Uppers are just placed no adhesive or anything.

I use holdtite on my lowers and only on the very back of each side .1 smallish blob on each and so far theyre stuck . I put the paste on at 9am and its now 2.20pm had breakfast and lunch and still holding so far .i also have a temp reline in place which will need to be permanetly relined shortly .i was using seabond strips at start but too much fiddling and uncomfortable in some spots. At least with paste a small bit goes a long way and seems to find its own way .

Yesterday put lowers in around 2:30 PM, had steak for dinner at 5:30 lowers stayed in. YEA. Being retired I can put the lowers anytime so they stay in place for dinner. The wife will just have to get used to seeing me without bottom teeth. LOL
