It's Done......

Had all my lower teeth removed. My dentist was awesome and I didn't feel a thing. Right before he pulled, I did start crying and he gave me a minute. It's a big step. I'm pretty swollen. But he said the lower denture is actually a good fit and was very happy with it. Not in much pain now but I'm sure I'll be hurting by tonight. I'll keep everyone posted.

Good Job!   We all freak out a little beforehand and then afterwards it's generally all good!
Keep on top of the Pain Meds, Icing and after 24 hours (or when the Dentist says ok) start with the warm salt water rinses.

My Dentist gave me these instructions:

Thanks for all the info. Not to much swelling but eating totally sucked. I couldn't feel anything at all as far and chewing. Very weird and scary. I know it'll take time.

Smoothies, Yogurt and Jello got me through the first week.  Milk Shakes rocked too!

Congrats!!  The hard part is over - all downhill from here.

Smoothies, milkshakes, jello and pudding for sure!  Just watch out for acidy drinks (they burn, trust me) and be aware that dairy products do cause "slime" for some folks like me.  I switched over to Almond or Soy milk for my shakes and it knocked that way down.

Not to be sexist or anything, but apparently women associate a different meaning to going downhill.

Hey. Funny was gonna post an update today. Feeling pretty good. Not too much pain. Took them out yesterday but had a hard time getting them in. I think I'm
Still a bit swollen and I also refused to look in the mirror. I feel like I can't open my mouth....is that normal? Speaking is totally fine (thank god).....but eating sucks. I pretty much eat yogurt, pudding, eggs and let it dissolve. It hurts to eat and can't feel what I'm chewing which is weird. Im not a big eater at all to begin with, but I miss eating like a normal person. Going back tomorrow

Sounds normal to me, but I'm no expert.  Mouth is doing a lot of adjusting right now, so I'd say that you're doing just fine.  Eating is an adjustment, for sure.  Glad you're doing well!

Agreed... what TJ said.  You'll get the eating down.  Took me about a month to get to the Cheeseburger stage and then Steak a few weeks after that.

Been 5 weeks here and I just ate my first burger yesterday. The fries gave me more trouble than the burger. Still have a problem with semi crunchy stuff.

It's a process.
The only thing that gives me issues anymore is Salt Water Taffy.
Way too sticky.
Crunchy stuff will be "no problemo" soon for you Margaret!
