Hi Ashley, welcome to the DentureLiving forum! I'm so sorry to hear that you've been unable to put in your temporary denture. Are you still in pain?

Your gums are probably still extremely swollen, and as they shrink and heal, it should get a little easier. Some denture wearers have said that rinsing with warm salt water helps a little. I'd also suggest calling or visiting your dentist, if possible. While a little discomfort is normal at first, he or she can check to make sure that nothing out of the ordinary is going on.

Hang in there and keep us posted on how you're doing!

Ive had mine 2 years now. The ones you have are temporary ones. Your denti st will give you a more permanent set. Luke warm water w/ salt will help shrink your gums. Did they give you a muscle relaxer aftrwards?

You'll need to clean them nightly. I soak in luke warm water in the container they gave me. I then put asmall amount of toothpas te on a soft toothbrush and clean gently. The residue from adhesive should come of quite easily. Pat dry w/ paper towel

I have no adhesive on mine. I got a soft liner put in so I'm leaving them in for 24 hours then gently clean the outside tomorrow and just rinse out the inside of them for now.

I literally am going through the same thing and it’s so hard to go through. I don’t have temporaries either because of the swelling. You’re not the only one and I try to focus on the things I can control, like healthy skin, eating and looking forward to a new me. I am anti social because I’m so embarrassed but it taught me a lot about vanity. I’m always here to talk!!

It is now day 7 and I still am having no luck with my dentures. Can't get a hold of the dentist so I'm going in as a walk in Wednesday morning to get this straightened out.

I'm glad to hear that you're able to get your dentures back in, Ashley. Your gums are going to continue to shrink, so you'll probably be visiting the dentist for a few denture adjustments over the next few weeks.

You're making progress, though, so keep it going! :) How are you doing with food and eating with your dentures?
