Just got my dentures yesterday ~ my gums are so sore!! Any ideas on food other than jello?? I am so hungry ~ but my gums are still really sore and swollen. I am starting to see bruising on my face, is that normal?? Thanks to anyone with any suggestions.

Hi Tammy, I hope you're doing well!  It's not uncommon to experience bruising on your face after having your teeth extracted for dentures, but don't hesitate to contact your dentist if you have any concerns at all.  Some soft food suggestions include scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, yogurt, milkshakes, and baked potatoes.  Take your time and stick with soft foods for now.  When you're ready for foods which require a bit more chewing, you can try soft cooked vegetables and flaky fish.

Members of our community, please share your ideas for soft foods with Tammy.  She'd love to hear from you!

Oatmeal, grits, pudding, cream of _____ (fill in the blank) soup, ice cream, yogurt, instant mashed potatoes and gravy, mac and cheese, creamed spinach, Ensure, juice. Read where someone had success early on with Hamburger Helper, but that rice is a bad idea, gets lost all over the place.
