Hi Tonja, I had all my extractions done Feb 2. and got an immediate upper and lower. You are doing the right thing with the warm salt water rinses....keep it up several times a day. I took ibuprofen to keep the pain under control. Your mouth will continue to heal and your gums will continue to shrink. As this happens the dentures ride lower on the gum line. You will have to keep going back to the dentist to have those areas that are cutting in trimmed back. I had a rough go of it with sores. It seemed that they could trim one day and within three days my mouth was being all cut up again. There is a product called Benzodent. It's in a tube and you can apply it to the sore areas to numb the pain. The stuff is messy, use a qtip to dab it in place. I found that it helped considerably (between dentists visits) when dabbed on those nasty sore spots. Hang in there, it WILL get better.

Aleve is 200mg so you would have to take 4 every X amount of hours and not to mention that's just more that your body has to break down and process. Ask your doctor to prescribe you 800mg Motrin. They were awesome for me. So much I never used a pain killer for my extractions just Motrin.

I use a product called "Kanka..something".  You 'paint' it on the sores before you put the denture in and it works beautifully as well as instantly.  You'll get there, Tonja.  Hang in there.
