My disappointment in Cushion Grip

After hearing all the wonderful reviews about Cushion Grip, I ordered some from Amazon and it finally arrived all the way to New Zealand today.  Now to all those who LOVE this product, I trialled this so called wonderful tube, and I hate it, and am so disappointed.  My upper denture is loose, and I am due to start the process of getting my permanents made next month, so thought Cushion Grip would be able to make my upper feel comfy in the interim.  I followed the instructions EXACTLY as the manufacturer said, and what an awful mess to contend with, so I scraped out all the goo, and following the instructions to a T again, only for Cushion Grip, not only to sting and taste awful, but for the goo, to spread and stick like crazy.  Yes, I used the right amount, and placed the goo as instructed, waiting the 5 minutes as required, etc.  I even added more to where I thought it was needed.  It was a disaster, and after 30 minutes off to trying to remove the goo from my denture plate with my finger nails, this expensive tube is now in my rubbish bin.  I was so looking forward to this being a success product for me, but after 2 unsuccessful attempts, never again.

I had the same problem. It was not Cushion Grip. The problem is that until you have your final fitting, the space between the plate and gums is to great. The final fitting should give better suction. For some, it means they no longer have to use anything at all. Cushion Grip is designed to be greater adhesion in that circumstance. If it helps, when I had mine done, I used a powder adhesive. Still use it now.

For me, I can’t live without Secure adhesive, it’s the only product that makes me feel normal so I can eat whatever I like. I think I had high hopes with cushion grip too :-)

I'm sorry you had an issue with cushion grip because I am a very long time user and once you get used to applying it properly this is the best thing on the market. I tried all the rest of that stuff out there nothing works like cushion grip and you have to put in enough that it seeps up over the top so that it forms a seal with your cheeks. So you can once again use your own suction to hold your dentures in. I'm soon-to-be 62 and I've had Dentures since I was 25 so I've tried a lot of things on the market and I'm not sure why you had such a devil of a time but it sounds like it was Dreadful. I'm truly sorry for that but I've never had it to do me that way. It's never stung me or failed to hold. You know instead of throwing it away you could always have sent it back and got your money back that's the nice thing about Amazon.

Unfortunately for me living in New Zealand, it would have cost me a fortune for shipping to send the tube back to the States, it cost me lots to have it delivered :-)

If you bought it off the Amazon you just go back into your account go back to that item and ask for an RA that's a return authorization and tell them that this stuff just did not work right for you that you want your money back. You will have to print it out and then you box the stuff up put that on top of it and take it to your local post office and that's it. I've had to do that with the few things I bought from Amazon and they're very easy to deal with things.

I had problems too, but someone on this list recommended densurefit and I tried it. Works great! Last a long time and so much better than the dentists reline. Can clean my teeth either with brushing or soaking and it doesn't damage the product.

I still use fixodent but not like i used to.

Had a problem with a tube and wrote the company and they sent me a free replacement!

How long does DenSureFit typically last for you?

The application I have on now was put on in September last year and still going strong.

Awesome compared to the soft liner the dentist put in that lasted 2 hours then started pulling away. Called and they wanted to charge me $250 to put another one on.

I am not sure why you would get a tube of Cushion Grip from New Zealand when it is made in and is available from Florida.  I wonder if the one you got was really old, or something.  At any rate, I have heard that it works differently on different dentures....those made with different materials.  It somewhat solidifies on my own, and is never difficult to take off.  It just peels away when I need to remove it.  None of the other "fixes" work for me.  Everyone is different and so are their dentures it seems.  Sorry you had such bad luck with it.  I have not tried DenSureFit....which is really pricey, but will do so in the near future.

Interesting, I've been using cushion grip for a couple of weeks now, still on my first tube, and for me it's been a godsend.. A some of you had said everyone is different with slightly different issues of fit, and I'm sorry it didn't work out for you. I suppose this is another one of those areas of trial and error of this denture adventure. Lol
My biggest love of this stuff is NOT dealing with the adhesive removal on your gums.
Everyone, keep posting what works best for you, it does help all of us.

Oh no I’ve just ordered some. Hopefully I can get on with it. I’ve tried everything on the market. & just to eat my dinner without taking my dentures out would be a dream. I’ve had dentures for 3 years now. & hate them. I’m 66 years old If I was you I’d try again with your cushion grip Good luck I’ll let you all know how I get on with it. When it arrives.

Hi Suzy, please don't let my experience with Cushion grip put you off.  Trialling it twice was enough for me.  I personally think I had a bad batch delivered to me OR as someone commented above, my denture material may have reacted to it.  Someone else commented, in an older post, that they had used it with their denture which had a soft liner in it with no problems.  Perhaps the Cushion grip reacted to my soft liner material, because it did not stay solidified while molding to my gums, like it does? with other peoples dentures.  The substance turned into this sticky gooey, stingy mess, which stuck like glue to my denture and gums, making it nearly impossible to get off my upper plate.  I think everyone has to trial new products to see what works best for them, and others love this product.  I'm pleased I trialled Cushion grip, because now I don't have to wonder what it was like.  Fingers crossed you will love it.
