I got my permanent dentures about 2 weeks ago and I love them. They feel great and are much snugger than my first set. Can't believe it'll be a year in December that I've gotten these dentures. This was the best investment ever and so glad I got this done.

I still need adhesive for the bottom. Just like when u get ur temps it's hard to adjust. I got a few sore spots and they felt weird because they were different. I cut down the top palate because o felt it was too long but the dentist said I would get used to it. I don't recommend you do this but I did. I put only a small amount of adhesive for the top but I think I don't need it. Just to feel a little more secure I guess. The bottoms feel good but I'm getting a sore spot. They feel tighter but I do wear adhesive. That's cuz with my temps I had just learned to eat corn on the cob! Now I can't and have to learn again. Just like before I cut my burger in pieces. I'm happy tho. I need to make a YouTube video of my new teeth. The dentist told me to put my temp dentures in a plastic bag in the freezer so that's where they are.

I don't wear as much adhesive as before. The bottoms is where I use the most. I use SECURE and they hold all day. But towards the end of the night they start feeling loose and I can't eat anything. But other than that I'm enjoying them. Just like when you get your temps the palate feels weird, that's how this feels for me again. Sometimes I put my tongue rested on it. I don't know why I do this and I'm getting a lot of saliva again. Always swallowing. But once again it's going to take some time and I can handle it. It's been a long journey but I am so glad this is over. I have teeth again and although it doesn't feel great eating because I can't feel the good I'm glad I can smile

I hope someone can Help me,I got my Permanent dentures yesterday & I ordered a tooth paste & I can`t use it because it says its not to be used in the mouth. They are screwed in & can only be removed by my dentist. I`m looking for a tooth paste that is non-abrasive. Thanks for any info.

Barbara - you are the first person here that has mentioned having the screw in dentures.  How are they?  I am going that route too but it will be a while before I get them.  Are yours full mouth?

Hi, Janet I just got them yesterday & before that I had dental implants put in & the dentures were called over dentures,so far after my 2nd day I love them but I`m trying to find a tooth paste for them.I ordered some from Amazon, but it can`t be used in the mouth, only on removable teeth & I purchased 2 tubes for over $ 10.00 a tube..waste of $$$$ I just love that I don`t have to remove them anymore, its been a long journey....

Barbara- can you talk more about your experience with your implants? I'm only one week since 25 extractions and temp top and lowers, but my long term plan is implants.

How long did you have to wait to start implant procedure? Did you go from tempories to implant, or did you get permanent dentures first? Did you do top and lower implants? Worth the price?

Thanks.

Christie - I can comment on this a little.  I had 28 teeth extracted and during that procedure, they put in the 5 implants in the lower jaw and grafted bone into the upper jaw.  That was 6 weeks ago.  8 weeks after the grafts, they will do a CT scan to see how the bone is taking.  No sooner than 11 weeks after extraction and grafts, they will place the 6 upper implants.  Then something like 3 months later I get the final screw in dentures.  Sometime next spring I guess if all goes well.  In the meantime, temporary dentures which were in my mouth when I woke up from surgery.

Worth the price?  Who knows. I think for me it will be more valuable than all the other things I could have done with the money. I probably wouldn't have done it if I had to stop at removable dentures because I can't see ever getting used to them.  I'm not really trying.  I wasn't missing any teeth before I started.  They were just getting old and lots of cracks and missing fillings and massive gum recession and bone loss etc.  And they looked terrible and have curtailed my social life for a long time due to self consciousness.

Christy,I had bad periodontitis for years & I had my teeth cleaned every 3 months & then the bone loss was so bad my teeth were getting loose. I started this process back in 2009,first pulling out all my teeth (awake) & then implants & temp teeth for 6 months for the implants to heal to the bone... I broke teeth & some fell out..then after the 6 months had permanent dentures that snap over the implants (called over dentures ) that can be removed by me to clean..they were in good cause they were hard to remove.Hubby had my temps made to permanent ones in case the others broke & they did several times,$3,000 :( I ended up with 3 pairs after teeth coming out in the night breakng & the dentist always blamed the "Lab" $31,000.. omg... Then this year we went to 2 other dentist for another opinion & one wanted another $24,000 to fix the problem & add more implants, the other told me he wanted me to go to a oral surgeon,I already did that years ago to try to save my teeth,no way..So we went back to the same dentist & he said I`m going to get this right & take my time,so another pair of beautiful teeth made & finally they are screwed in to the implants & they feel like my own teeth, another $10,000,hubby is paying $500.00 or more if he has some over time interest free.....so I hope this is the END...I have to go every 6 months for check-ups & any cleaning I guess...I have heard people paying $45-60,000 for this,I just hope I live long enough enjoy my beautiful teeth...Just a lot of $$$$$$,fingers crossed....hope this helps...have a nice weekend P.S we now owe $7,000,Hubby is wonderful xx

It is a long journey and I'm only 6 weeks post extraction.  How is the eating?  I'm sorry I don't know about the toothpaste.  Did your dentist advise anything in particular?

Eating is fine & they told me just a waterpick, but I just ordered a real soft tooth brush & another kind of tooth paste.
