Hi I am new to this.... like 2/27/17 I got my last 17 teeth pulled. they were both on the top and bottom. i have a ton of stitches and dentures on top of are not that great as well. I am still swollen eating soft foods and cant chew yet. speaking is still slurred. I have now had to put paste in so the dentures dont move. i was just wondering what the best way to get the goop off. i am kinda bummed all this has happened but its a means to an end i guesss. better at 37 when my bones are still good right?
Yes good bone is great. I use coconut oil to loosen adhesive. I use Secure tape and adhesive. Swish coconut oil in mouth for 5 To 10 minutes, Please spit in trash not plumbing to avoid clogs after it hardens. At first it may make you gag. Spit sooner or lean forward that helps. Not sure what all you should do while sutures are in though. Dentist advice? Good luck. It takes a while to find what works for you. You found a great resource to get through this. It saved my sanity, seriously, I am grateful to Fixadent.
I'd try paper towels and swishingbretson with warm salt water until your sutures are out. My dentist allowed adhesive only in the spots where I didn't have extractions for a while. Rinsing with warm salt water does really help with healing. Talking will coming around. You have to learn how to position your tongue in relation to the dentures. I was lucky and had speech therapy as a child for a lisp. It helped with the speech with dentures.
Ok two things, I find that the adhesives gag me, so this is how I get that out , I rinse my mouth out with a listerine type mouthwash and that helps break up the adhesive. I use a really soft tooth brush to get the rest off my gums. I put a little in with my teeth to help break residual glue on my dentures. As for advice, I checked out information on You tube. I usually don't use You tube, but some of the ideas were great including this page.
ive tried every paste and strip there is , the Fixodent when your taking them out peel it slowly out don't rub your tongue over it, kinda let it dry and you can peel a whole section off at a time, but if you get it wet with your tongue then it gets slimy and doesn't come off good, poly grip was horrible, that doesn't peel off just stays slimy, same with the strips and they don't seal well , if you get air under your dentures they start moving.
