pain is worse today than prior two days...mainly from pressure of dentures pressing against holes  where the teeth were extracted..when i press on the front of my face from right below eyelids down it is painful to touch big time...cant eat anything unless I can "smash it" by pressing roof of denture down til food gets small enough to just swallow i have appetite but pain makes the appetite disappear....i was prescribeb 3.5 days of pain meds and knowing 3.5 days wont be enough ive  already stretching it past the 4 hr im prescribeb fearing when im out ,,,appreciate all the posts ive seen and will listen to any suggestions as well as keep reading posts hoping to find any helpful advice to alliviate this pain   its much worse than i had envisioned maybe im exception but dont look like it from all these posts,,,guess my question is, are all these things "normal" or common

Hi Glenn! What you are experiencing is normal, but can you describe the pain? Does it throb down through your jaw? Sometimes you can develop dry socket, which is a pain I would not wish on anyone. That typically shows up a fee days after extractions if the blood clot was dislodged in any of the sites. If not, then you may have what I ended up with, which are ulcers/sores from the denture rubbing. When mine started healing and shifting that pain was worse than the extraction pain afterwards. I still deal with discomfort when putting in my top denture because of this and the fact that mine are very loose now. I had adjustments done to alleviate the pain of the ulcer but they take time to heal so keeping denture out as much as I can seems to have helped. Use mouthrinses of salt water (warm water, not hot) or mouthwash from the dentist help healing as well. As I wait for my first soft reline, I have to use some kind of adhesive. Good luck and it does get better. It’s a long process, but we are hear to listen and help offer advice.

Hi Sarah
Thank you for the quick response !! Its not a throbbing pain and it doesnt seem to be going down into the jaw so I hope that rules out a dry socket, Ive heard horror stories on those. My pain is way in back when I first put in denture, which I assume is from my mouth getting accustomed to the denture. I dont think anything could be as painful as those shots to the roof of my mouth in order to numb the areas he was gonna work on. 4 of those bad boys and im cringing now just thinking about it, and Im sure thats gonna be painful each time I put pressure on the denture. Seems to really be worse 1-at night(of course so i cant sleep-lol) 2-any attempt to close my mouth with any type food in between denture and bottom teeth 3-area of nasal area right under nose to each side and when i press on that area it feels swollen and painful to touch.........just writing this it seems to me as I read my own descriptions that Im probably dealing with the natural pains of healing but I surely did not understand PRIOR to the procedure the pain that followed   guess i should have found thisa site before i had procedure lol     Thanks for any suggestions or advice I humbly welcome and appreciate it and wish you healing in your journey also
God Bless

And many people have found that regular old Advil works as well as the prescriptions. I used it the first week and it works great after all 28 teeth pulled. And if eating is too difficult, drink a couple Ensures a day. They take away hunger and give you nutrition.
