I am going through this too, I had 6 bottom teeth out yesterday and i am in agony with the left side of the denture, like you said it's scraping, very sore and uncomfortable.

Go see your dentist to get them adjusted. It's a simple enough thing to do. The flange is likely longer than the space available in your mouth. No need to suffer. :)

Linda, after 2 months you should be able to use adhesives without any problems.  Most people will start using adhesives after about 2 weeks post extraction.

Yes I finally can put my bottoms in with adhesive. For 2 months I went without my bottom dentures which the are temporaries For now. But I'm happy they finall go in with no pain. It's so true the bottoms do take a lot of time to get in to feel comfortable .

I'm less than 2 weeks out from my extractions. I kept the dentures in for 36 hours then took out to rinse. Oh yes, felt much better out. Hurt way more to have them in. I had real reasons that were causing that. Anyway, I had already planned my first 72+ hours post extractions. I had medication that allowed me to spend most of the hours sleeping and mostly pain free.(between rinses, etc).
What a blessing.
