So to get someone to HEAR us we ALL need to contact Bayer. NO ONE IS LISTENING TO US HERE.
Perhaps we can get some notice if we all post to Bayer's Facebook, Twitter pages. At least we will be posting to the actual company that can make CG again. Here are the links:
I just now made a lengthy post about this on the Bayer website. Here it is:
Lori Ryan: There really is a great need for this discontinued product. If it suited someone's needs, they pretty much became a loyal lifetime user, as there was no other product available that works like this one did. No longer being able to purchase it has caused great suffering to many people, because to not be able eat comfortably greatly reduces quality of life.
Lori Ryan: What Comfort Grip offered that no other product did, (or does), was provide more than adhesive qualities...it offered a comfortable, semi-permanent layer of cushioning to the denture's hard surface; making it possible for the many people with sensitive gums to once again eat in "comfort" in spite of the unfortunate conditions that forced them to have their own teeth removed.
Lori Ryan: I think it could have been a much better seller if the original manufacturer had perhaps just advertised it a bit differently; as it really isn't an "adhesive" per se; more of a form-fitting liner.....if it had been advertised to let people KNOW that, more people NEEDING exactly that could have found it. As it was all the advertising was pretty much through word of mouth. That alone created many loyal lifetime customers, but not in the quantities that would have been possible had advertising led the right customers to try it. People strictly looking for a glue-type adhesive were likely disappointed, because, as previously stated; Cushion Grip was NOT that, really. I truly believe different advertising could have changed all that, as opposed to discontinuing it. Hopefully Bayer might consider bring it back with a new advertising slant, or even offer the patent to some other enterprising company? Either solution would make thousands of previous customers extremely happy, and undoubtedly thousands more who need this but just didn't realize that a product that worked like this even existed.
Lori Ryan: There are forums online devoted to this dilemma; many many people anxiously awaiting some news on the subject. Could Bayer possibly give some consideration to this matter? It would be much appreciated by many people currently unable to enjoy one of life's most basic pleasures: eating. Thank you, Lori Ryan
Wanted to say thank you to you, Charlene, for the great idea to contact Bayer, and for providing me the link to do so! Also many thanks to the Fixodent people for providing this very useful forum, where they so graciously let us discuss all denture products; not just their own. Fixodent gets a gold star in my book for that!
I just wanted to stop by and quickly about a few items topics. First, thank you so much for acknowledging that regardless of this being a forum sponsored by Fixodent, it is more important that all denture wearers are able to find information about their situation and solutions to their related problems from people who have or are going through the same thing. Whether you are here to help others, make a product recommendation, or ask a question, everyone is encouraged to speak freely. The Denture Living Forum is for everyone!
Also, AleciaP is correct that websites such as eBay or Amazon are not selling the discontinued product, it is individuals who immediately buy up any quantity of popular products that have recently been discontinued. It's how they make their living. It is their prerogative to set the price. It is simply supply and demand, no matter how unfair it may seem. We often see this with many of our brands, from denture adhesive to toothpaste, from laundry detergent to fiber bars. I see that many folks are concerned with expiration dates, which you should be! You are certainly able to ask these sellers for the expiration date on a product. In this case, it would be in the crimp at the end of the tube. If a seller refuses to give you the date, you have the option to not buy from them. Wishing you the best of luck with your preferred products making a comeback! Thanks.
