Hi, time to vent so i apologize in advance. My bottom dentures just won't stay on, they come loose just by drinking water, my dentist said "that happends with bottom dentures". I use Fixodent food seal and no matter what i eat they come loose immediatley and gobs of food gets under them, has anyone else experienced this problem and if so what did you do about it. My next appointment is on Thursday, any advice on what I should tell my dentist? This is very upsetting, the thought of eating gets me upset I already lost 10 pounds and I'm one that dosen't need to lose weight.

It may be TEMPORARILY painful. But your quality of use will be so much better.

My dentist said that I do not have the bone structure to put in posts, so I have no choice. but to find a way to keep the bottom dentures from floating. I do pretty good as long as I don't eat or drink and then I produce so much saliva that gradually they come loose even without eating or drinking. I pray every day that something will work. I just ordered EZO from Walgreens as I have spent so much money trying everything possible that has been suggested on here.

I had my bottoms pulled in January. So it's been 8 months. LONG 8 months. I finally mastered eating and mastered running to the ladies room/bathroom to wash my hands before each mail so I can reapply the adhesive in order to carefully eat - keeping in mind when I go out I try to stick to food not too challenging.

I had my denture relined two weeks ago. What a huge difference! They don't stay in like the tops that's for sure but as soon as the dentist put them in I felt like a new person. Yes I still need the adhesive, but only a little bit. And I still reapply before a meal but if I'm out and it is really difficult to do I can still eat. Carefully.

So keep positive and be patient for your reline. We do need to remember these will never be like our old teeth. I don't know about you, but I was always in pain with my old teeth. I guess having to use adhesive to eat is better than the constant pain I had.

I must say after reading all these comments, that im one of the lucky ones . My bottom teeth fit amazingly. I've had them in for a week now. Granted I do use sealant for them, but im able to eat everything I've tried so far with no problems. Im even chewing gum right now. Let me tell you how I achieved these results: I had all my lower teeth pulled and I then waited a total of 6 months before even starting the process of doing impressions, having molds made then wax fitting and then the teeth. When receiving my teeth, the dentist placed them and said "Wow there's even some suction there " I went home placed some sealant on them and they've been in ever since with the exception of cleaning and applying new adhesive (which I do only 1 time a day) im able to eat and all!!!! The same process was done with my uppers which I've had for about 8 years. Only difference with them is i use NO sealant and have a perfect fit!!!! My advice to anyone would be WAIT UNTIL YOUR GUMS ARE HEALED BEFORE DOING YOUR IMPRESSIONS!!!! I know it SUCKS walking around toothless for 6 months but you'll be thankful for the rest of your life!!! Im sooo sorry all of you are having so much trouble.

Amanda, that's wonderful!  I would so love to take 6 months off work, but I'm going to just bear with the adjustments and get my "permanent" when my gums quit changing.  I'd prefer to follow your advice - believe me.  I just can't afford to.

Amanda that's great this worked for you but like Schelly I could not go without teeth for six months. Can you share what sealant you are using?

I had my lower teeth pulled and got a lower denture 3 weeks ago. I HATE IT!!!!!!! I miss my broken bad teeth because at least I could chew with those. The denture wont stay in place for anything. I have had them adjusted, had a soft liner added and I have tried about 12 different types of adhesive from gel to powder to strips.
Yes, I now have a lovely smile but Im starving all the time. I cant even eat soup. oatmeal, or even cottage cheese without the back popping up. Every time I cough they pop up and gag me, one of my biggest fears is that Im going to cough or sneeze them out of my mouth at some one. My confidence has plummeted since I got them instead of improved, its all so disheartening.
People keep telling me to try different products, I have, so many different products, nope. They tell me I will get use to them in time, I just dont see it happening. Ive been told when I get the top ones  it will help, but Im not willing to take that chance at this point.
I cant get the post because I have degenerative bone disease and my jaws cant take it.
If I had known how awful they were going to be, I would have kept the bad teeth and occasional tooth ache, because again, at least I could eat with those.
I am supposed to get top dentures , but I dont think I am going to. The bottom denture has been such a horrendous experience that there is no way Im willing to make it worse by adding top denture problems too. At least now, when I have something super soft, I can take the bottom denture out and use my tongue to press food against my top teeth in a half bummed attempt at some kind of chewing.  I miss food, I miss being able to eat enough to get me full, Im tired of listening to my stomach growl all the time.
I tried eating a soft piece of chicken yesterday and my gums started bleeding. Im out of ideas, this was the worst decision Ive ever made in my life, I regret it completely.
