Just wanted to let those of you following know that I'm still recovering (well, I think) and getting better every day.

Diet is still pretty soft, but I've added in smothered burritos.  I finally got worn down by the constant "EAT PIZZA" ads on my TV, so we ordered one last night.  I would love to say I gnawed on it like normal, but I couldnt - I scraped the toppings and cheese off with a fork, along with some of the softer bread.  It was delicious, but it reminded me of how far I still have yet to go.  Still have no bite pressure and I get a pretty good rocking motion when I get the food in the right spot.  Lots of learning left to do there.

Unfortunately, I'm fighting my weight right now.  A year ago, I was at 202lbs.  The day before surgery, I was at 182.  This morning, I'm at 180 - which is up from the 178 I was at on Saturday.  I've literally been drinking 4 milkshakes a day, every day, since then.

Denture wise, I'm not excited about the fit right now but I know its a process.  The tops are extremely loose (theyre dropping fairly easily) and the bottoms are causing a couple minor rub spots again.  I have an appointment on Thursday morning, so I'm sure an adjustment is in order.

I picked up some Polident overnight tabs and I'm pretty pleased with them.  They seem to be doing a good job of brightening them up and they definitely taste fresh when I put them in.  I've got a bit of an issue with coffee staining them up pretty fast, so I've taken to giving them a quick wipe in the mirror from time to time.

I know a lot of folks have some really negative experiences with dentures, but so far I appear to be lucky.  I feel and look better than I did two weeks ago, so I'm calling this one a win.

On my tops I just use fixodent powder.  Just on my palate part.  It makes a gigantic difference and won't get into your sockets.  I started using glue on my lowers at about 2.5 weeks and it was a world of difference.  Of course, a month into mine and they are now friggin gigantic.  I feel like my gums are shrinking faster than my dentist thought they would.  I think it's time for another reline.  (YAY!  They are amazing and almost feel natural after a reline.... for about a week.  lol Then they start to get loose again as the gums shrink further)  It's a never ending cycle for the first year.  Hang in there!

Thanks Marcia.  What are you using on the lowers?  Dentist steered me away from powders for the time being.

Right now I'm using Fixodent Free and it works really well.  I tried powder on the bottom and it didn't do anything.  I imagine the paste would work really well on the top, too, but I couldn't handle it.  Took forever to get it out of my mouth, and the slimy but stuck texture grossed me out so much that I about threw up each time i had to remove it.  And getting it off took about 10 mins of brushing and swishing hot water and stuff.  I moved to the powder only because it comes off cleaner and brushed off the roof my my mouth easily.  It's weird because I don't nearly have as much of a problem with the glue on the bottom.
