Yes. My husband went down that road. Went to dentist who did alot of work and cost alot of money and it wasn't ending. He went to see another dentist who ended up pulling the teeth out the other dentist was trying to "fix" . More than 3,000 wasted. So he ended up with dentures. We found out hard way that dental care is expensive and every dentist has their own way of doing things. Comes down to money. So i think look around and check out dentist that have free consultation and check them out and how much they cost. If you don't have dental insurance, then when you find dentist that is reasonable that you trust, then see what insurance they take. Most are inexpensive. Even blue cross and they start almost right away. I don't know about all of course. After insurance is in effect then have work done. I got blue cross dental, it 30.00 month because dentists i
spoke with took it. Of course the dentist I went with didn't, but gave me a discount because I had insurance. But, yes, my sister in Illinois had very expensive dental work done, and I doubt she needed it as she is 77 and they scared her into having it. Maybe she did need it, but that money was from her savings and she's on fixed income. She'll never make it back and of course they want to see her 2 or 3 times a year. You look young, so maybe they feel it is better for you but I understand the runaround. You think they are fixing but then there is more work, then more. So if it's dentures you want really look into it. Shop around, ask people. It took me awhile to find my dentist. I had given up, but my dentures don't fit right and cost 7000 and now they tell me I'll need new ones made as these will never fit. Like that's my fault. But..my gums are healthy and All those icky teeth are gone. And I can wear my uppers and they look good. I hope I didn't cause you more worry, it can be done, just shop around. Once you find your dentist, they can make impressions and have old teeth out in couple weeks. Also decide before hand if you want to be awake or under. Only cause that is part of the cost. I

Hi, I found the town I live in has some very good low cost dentists. You could pull teeth there and then get dentures at a denturist? Would that work? Personally I regret the whole thing .

Covered Services for Adults

The Illinois HFS Adult Dental benefit is changing to emergency services only, effective July 1, 2012. The only Adult covered services will be an exam, X-rays, and sedation as long as an extraction is completed on the same day of the services, or within seven days, to allow a patient to receive necessary antibiotic treatment prior to the extraction.

You can also call DentaQuest at 1-888-286-2447 to find out what services are covered.

If your dentist can say it is an emergency perhaps they will cover the cost of the extractions/dentures.   Just a thought.  Call the phone # I posted above and ask them or call your Social Services in your area and see if they might be able to help you.

Great idea. And not lie, it is an emergency. Dental work when gets to this stage is bad for you. And good health saves money for any kind of assistance even insurance. That was so smart of you spanky to look up and really thoughtful. Oddly enough I am from Illinois and from what my family there have told me is that you need lots of money to live there now, otherwise it is hit or miss. I could not afford to move back and I live Florida. Sorry sweetie that you are going through this. And shame dentists in general are expensive.

If there is anyway you can keep 1 or two teeth please do that.
My denture life has been horrible.
It's like looking a limb. You can't grow back. I'm 44. Everything i do, I have planned around my denture.
Also go to a DENTURIST. OR A DENTAL LAB. These people know what they are doing.
Just my opinion.
Good luck
