I wrote a detailed comparison of both and it didn't save. Bottom line: Secure is very good but Fixodent Ultra is better, at least for me. Once I got the amount right (too much and the plate doesn't sit properly) I found the hold on the Fixodent to excellent lasting from early morning until bedtime eating pretty much whatever I want. Biting into an egg sandwich on a kaiser roll was no problem.
The Fixodent also cleans up a bit more easily.

While the Secure is very good, I find by the end of the evening the plate is coming away from the palate on its own. With the Fixodent Plus it stays put until I rinse my mouth a couple of times and then it comes loose and is easy to remove.

I noticed the same thing with Secure at the end of the day depending on if I have had a lot of water to drink that day. Are you talking about Fixodent Ultra or Fixodent Plus because you mention both? Which one holds till bedtime? Many thanks. Gail

I asked my dentist about the zinc because I too was concerned. His answer to me was if you are using it properly and not "eating it" you should be fine... I am very careful with it.  One application per day no more than the suggested amount. And, I probably will switch it out with the Secure because they are both very good products.

Thanks for the info...
I've, personally, found that cushion grip is the best for me, after day 2 I'll add just a dab of fixodent and it is incredible..

I love the way cushion grip works but I can not get it off my dentures. I follow the directions. I use secure and fixodent but would love to use cushion grip because of the way it molds to my gums.

My dentist and I had a conversation about Fixodent Ultra today.  Now, I had done my own independent research on it.  The amount of zinc is almost miniscule and as long as you don't eat it, there should be no problem.  As I was telling my dentist this, he had a huge grin on his face and he said I was absolutely correct.

My dentist said the exact same thing. I have been using the Fixodent Ultra every day. I need just one application and the denture stays put until I remove it.

I ate a hamburger on a bun tonight -- normal size, not little McDonald's -- and the Fixodant Ultra held.

Good for you Nancy! I'm going to give it a try. Have you ever tried the Fixodent Ultra with a sprinkling of Fixodent Extra powder on it?

Haven't needed it. The Ultra seems to be doing the job. I don't want to have trouble getting them out at night.

Actually, they did get stuck one night. My dentist clearly over did it with the Fixodent and they were pretty well cemented in there. Couldn't budge them. Googled. Got some suggestions here and after about 30 minutes of fiddling they came out.

Although Fixodent works better in the hold department, I have to say that the denture feels better when I use the Secure. I don't know if it cushions more or if I've just had more practice applying it. In the comfort category, Secure wins.
