Hi all,

I started smoking at the age of 17, and have been addicted to smoking since then. I am 30 now. Lately, I have been facing some problems with my teeth. My gums are always bleeding, and it is causing me a lot of pain. When I consulted my doctor, he told me that it might be due to my smoking habit, he has given me the medicine for the time being, but he told me that I might face the problem of  bleeding gums as long as I am smoking, and it will stop when I stop smoking. I checked on the internet to know more, and found this article,, is this right ? Has anyone faced anything similar? Or is it just me? Is there no other cure for bleeding gums.

Are you kidding? Unless you want to lose all your teeth, stop smoking. I lost ALL my upper teeth and it is awful. I quit smoking by using the patch and an e cigarette which u can gradually go to zero nicotine. I mean it!! Smoking destroys your gums!

I smoked for many years as well but did not have bleeding gums only during cleanings. Sounds like it might be other issues. All the same smoking has a tremendous effect on both your teeth, gums and general oral health. Take it from one who knows only too well. I did quit but the damage was already done. Good luck!!
