Sore area keeping my partial in its cup!!

I had several teeth extracted a few days ago, with an immediate partial put in. I was doing great with it, til last night. I have a sore spot that's now making it impossible to put the partial back in. My dentist's office was closed today (Friday), so I'll have to wait til Monday to go for an adjustment. Is there anything I can use in the meantime to kill the pain and be able to wear the partial?

Im not sure what to say here honestly, you cannot legally obatin a perscription without seeing a dentist or maybe going to the ER. After I had my 16 upper teeth extracted only medicine I took the entire time was Excedrin Migraine. I was given a bottle of Vicodin but I did not take any. Also I opted out of the Immediate denture, I went a whole 45 days without upper teeth. Then I had the upper made. So honestly if you have no real reason to put them in, leave them out for a day or two. I ate soft foods like hamburger helper and ramen noodles. You can find a wide range of foods you can eat without dentures over at the Ask Gums boards.

Susan, .... I have a partial too, a simple adjustment will help... but when you can't get to the dentist immediately, try ''Cushion Grip''... It's sold at CVS pharmacy or online at Amazon,com... it's like a ''soft reline'', but doesn't stick to your gums, only your denture/partial... you can apply Fixodent over the ''sore area'' too.... Cushion Grip really helped me for approx. 5 months till I got my permanent upper denture and lower partial... When your gums are healed pretty well, you'll get a ''permanent partial'', made of a thinner product and will have stainless steel for the base..and it won't be as ''bulky'' in your mouth... Good Luck Susan, it's a PROCESS with dentures or partial, and it does get better!
