I'm Karen, the Fixodent Community Manager. I know it's miserable to be in pain. Sore spots won't go away on their own, so it's always a good idea to visit your dentist when they occur. A small adjustment can make a huge difference in comfort! Your mouth will go through a lot of changes after extractions, so it's common to return to the dentist frequently for adjustments.

Bone spurs are not uncommon. Many times they'll work their way through the gums on their own, although other times a dentist may choose to remove them. If they're bothersome, discuss this with your dentist.
Hang in there - it will get better!

Hi Ashley..I went to a dental college to have my extractions done and they were very thorough and helpful in my process. My dentist and professors there advised me to have all of the bumpy spots on my gums filed down to a smooth finish before they actually made my set of teeth.Although it took longer to heal and I went without my teeth for two months, it was well worth it. I only had a few stitches that healed quickly and then i was ready to get the dentures. I haven't had any problems other than a slight adjustment needed to smooth out some plastic on the denture itself. They were very good at telling me ahead of time what to expect and how to deal with new dentures. Give yourself time to heal after your extractions. It's worth the wait..i promise. Good luck and be happy.

Okay that was really great information I'm just going through the pink of sores all over the place and it is awful but it really takes two months for it to heal completely I can't go without any teeth for that long oh my gosh it's not the food it's going out in public already got really horrible news today from someone else in the community that told me that I'll never be able to kiss anybody again because they'll know that I'm wearing dentures and who's going to want me I

Bull Crap! I dated a girl when we were both in our twenties. She lost her teeth in a car accident. Dentures were not a problem.

canker sores caused by dentures won't heal if continued rubbing by denture.  must go without the dentures for several days.  no dentist told me that continued rubbing was reason for no healing.

you may have to avoid eating with the dentures in for ten days.
