Starting Process of Getting My Permanents

July 19 was 5 months since I had my extractions and got my temporary immediate. I went to the dentist today and was thrilled that he began the process of making the permanent. He took preliminary impressions today. I go back in two weeks for more impressions. I know I should have asked my dentist this, but what happens next? How long is this part of the process.

As far as I am concerned, it can't happen soon enough. My immediate served me well but is no longer fitting properly. I just hoping the new one feels as good as this one has but that it looks better. My only complaint is how it has changed the shape of my face particularly around my upper lip. I'm kind of hating it right now.

Nancy you are finally getting There! I really hope you would wait the full 6mths as it may get loose if done sooner. It would save you the cost of a Reline in the near future but if you don't care then go for it girl! After your next impressions in two weeks which I hope are done in custom made trays for only you they may also take your Bite registration on that appt as well and pick your teeth and shade! Yay! If not that will be the 3rd appt. You go girl!

I feel pretty confident that my dentist would not have moved ahead if he didn't think I was ready... By next appt, I will be just a couple of week shy of 6 months. Can't wait.

After your Bite Reg appt you should have a Try in appt. Be very critical when you try them and if you can bring someone close with you that can have a look and judge as most of us don't sit in front of the mirror all day. Once the try in goes well it will go to the finish. Most places take approx 2 weeks. If they are cast partial dentures it take 3-4 weeks. Hope it all goes well and you love your new smile! :)

I have to say that the last 6 months have had their ups and downs but, for the most part, it hasn't been all that bad. I stick them in first thing in the morning with Fixodent Ultra, eat whatever I want and take them out at bed time. I'm not even noticing the hunk of plastic as much as I used to.
