Hang in there! I went through the same thing. PAIN.Discomfort. The only good part I lost 14 pounds I needed to lose. Found them. A year later problems still with dentures.

Supposedly it impedes the clotting. I felt like putting a straw into a bottle of scotch. I totally ignored the admonition to not smoke. Giving up eating, smoking and drinking all at the same time was out of the question.

I stopped at the liquor store on the way home from my extractions, lol. I made myself a dirty martini and tried to relax. Did the same thing on day two at cocktail time. I'm not a big drinker, but it helped me get through the first couple of days. I went to my day three recheck and the dentist said everything looks excellent. I smoke too and even had a few cigs. Maybe it slows healing, but I agree with brotherbart... too many changes at one time is out of the question. The process is very stressful. Whatever gets you through the night as they say. The dentist made adjustments for sore spots. I have a new one now, but overall, everything is going well. I ate salmon and a baked potato last night (five days post extractions). It probably wasn't pretty (chewing-wise) but I managed it.
