Can I take my new dentures out for a while for some relief 3 days after surgery?

Hi Debbie! Yes, you should be taking them out to clean them and overnight to allow for proper healing. You can check with your dentist first, of course, since every person and situation is different, but that’s usually about the time that you should start taking them out occasionally. Good luck!

Thank you for your reply. I am very sore, swollen and black and blue in spots. This is tough, but I will survive. At least I will lose that weight I wanted to take off.

Yes, it will be sore for awhile, even when the swelling goes down, because then your dentures won’t fit properly and they move around a lot. That’s where I am now almost 4 weeks in. I’m waiting for my dentist to do a soft reline and using adhesive when they are in to minimize the movement. I still cannot chew much and yes, I’ve lost 10 lbs so far, but mashed potatoes are my best friend and we know that carbs help with weight gain, rather than weight loss lol!
