Taste

I got 20 teeth pulled 9 days ago. I have immediate dentures (full on top, partial on bottom). I'm so happy that I did. I wish I'd done it sooner.

The only problem I'm having is that my taste is off. I cook a lot and really enjoy doing it. This time of year I bring food to 2-3 parties a weekend. I'm cooking up a storm right now. A lot of my creations are from my head, not a recipe, so I have to taste my food as I'm cooking. Nothing tastes as vibrant as it used to and I can't pick up all the nuances. Will this get better or is it just something I'm going to have to learn to deal with?

Hi Mary You either get used to it and it becomes second nature or it gets better. I am used to tasting things now. I got my dentures on May 4th 2016 and its all second nature. Try tasting your food without dentures for now  as you make it and that will help a lot. It will get better I promise. :)

If it were me, I'd cook sans dentures. You taste buds are currently hid by your dentures.
