I'm Karen, the Fixodent Community Manager. Welcome to our forum! I know it must be frustrating when your lower denture comes loose. A lower denture isn't held in place by suction like an upper denture is, buteventually the muscles of your lips, cheeks and tongue will learn to hold it in place. Try not to feel discouraged and know thatit will becomeeasier in time.
Having said that, several of our members had a discussion about the taste of taste of soft liners in June. I think you'll find the replies helpful, so I've attached a direct link below. Meanwhile, if anyone else hasexperienced a soft liner with an unpleasant taste, please let us know.

Hi, When i had my first reline done i thought the same thing the taste was gagging me so i soaked my dentures overnight in a denture cleaner and it helped get rid if that taste but i think it took about 3 or 4 days for the tasteto completely go away.

Welcome to the group Donna! I always dreaded getting the soft liner done because of the taate.

What I did was (hoping I was done for the day) is clean them using your preferred method (I use a 15-minute soak), brush & rinse them, then put them in water to soak with ALCOHOL FREE mouthwash - about a half of a cap full - soak overnight.

For the sores, do saltwater rinses!
Good luck!

Or try adding a little baking soda to the soak. I bought some cleansing tabs dollar store brand that contain baking soda, that seem to work pretty well.

Donna, I have occasionally wound up with some light blue residue on my dentures after soaking them. If that happens, just use your denture brush and hot water to scrub away or clean them in a soak again.

I only had it happen once and it was I got home from the soft liner, cleaned the dentures, got them soaking, and proceeded to get a stomach bug for the next couple of days. They soaked WAY too long!

I use Crest ProHealth mouthwash, clear or the lightest blue I can find.

I think I also saw somewhere that it might be the coloring in the acrylic thats causing a reaction.

Brenda McClure Vaughn when is the last time you were seen by your dentist? It sounds like you may need a reline to make them fit properly. Unfortunately, no amount of adhesive can make poor fitting dentures stay in place. Let us know how you make out after meeting with them. Thanks!

Donna, have you talked to your dentist about this? I agree that it does sound like you may be one of the few people that is having some type of allergic reaction. We can understand your frustration and discomfort. We would recommend that if you haven't already, please speak with your dentist to see what can be done.
