Is this a new type of fixodent? Does it work better then the others? I know it's zinc free, but is it stronger then the ones that contain zinc?

Hi Maryanne, the Fixodent Plus True Feel is our newest product. It’s designed for denture wearers who want a more natural mouth feeling. It does not contain any added flavor or color, and you are correct that it is zinc-free. One nice aspect of this product is that it is our only zinc-free product that has the food seal nozzle—a thinner tip that gives users more control over where they apply the cream. In terms of its holding power, it is comparable to that of our zinc products. All Fixodent products are formulated to give them the strongest hold possible, so it is worth trying a few to see which works best for you. I hope this helps, and thanks for your question!

That's funny the box in small print says it contains zinc 0.2 so how is it zinc free?

Hi Sandy, very good point. Fixodent Plus True Feel has no zinc added, but the product may contain up to .2% zinc as a result of shared manufacturing lines with our other Fixodent products. Thanks for reminding me! :)

I live in Ft Lauderdale. Can't find your True Feel in any retail store. What's up with that. Internet says Walgreens....tried many....can't find this anywhere

Hi there, sorry you are having trouble finding our newest product! Unfortunately, it is up to each individual store to decide what products to stock—you may want to consider mentioning it to your local store’s manager that you’d like to see Fixodent Plus True Feel on the shelves. In the meantime, you can buy it online at retailers like Walmart.com or Walgreens.com. Sorry for the inconvenience, and thanks for being a customer!

I have tried the new True Feel and don't like it at all.  It only last about an hour and never feels like a good seal as I get with the pink ones.

I agree, the new fixodent does not last at all.  Very disappointed.  May as well by Walmart's brand if that's the quality I get.

I tried the fixodent and it doesnt last at all, I agree. Lasted me less than 24-hours before having to clean and reapply. I bought the wafers for upper and lower to see if they work better for me.

Are you talking about sea bond? I,m tempted to try it, but I am afraid to be disappointed after spending the money!

Annie, I've been using the Sea-Bond for my upper denture since my dentist said not to use the Fixodent while I'm waiting for my new permanent denture that will work with implants.  (He didn't want me to get the paste all around the implants.)  I used Fixodent before the implants were exposed, and it worked well.  The Sea-Bond works just as well for me.  I have to trim them down because they're too big, but that's not hard.  Give them a try — I certainly am happy with them.

Are you lucky enough to only use it once a day or do you apply it before every meal?

I have had no luck with this product. I have to apply it 3-4 times a day. The grocery store brand that is zinc-free has a way better hold than the True Feel and only needs to be applied 2xday. Very disappointed.

Hi GJ, Chieko, and Annie—just a friendly reminder that all Fixodent products are only recommended for use once per day! If you find you have to reapply more often, please give our care team a call at 1-855-236-3353. Thank you! :)

That would be my question too. Is it not safe to use more than once a day? If you use the zinc free ones what's the harm? Everyone's mouth is different. Some people produce more saliva than others. Tell us what is the harm using it before each meal. What if ones dentures fit good but just come loose eating. It also depends on what one eats. If you eat Liquids all day and soft food it will hold. If one tries to eat a sandwich, pickle, chips it will come loose easier. So what's the answer? Don't eat sandwiches, pickles, bread, anything you have to chew? Ii guess I just will accept I might never eat like I did before. Apply the adhesive once a day and mush up your food! I am sorry but I feel aggravated when you say use once a day

Hi GJ & Annie, I apologize for the delay in my response! The reason I am always reminding everyone to only use Fixodent once per day is because all Fixodent products are designed to be used only once a day for the convenience of the user, and the products are tested with this understanding.  With correctly fitting dentures, once per day should be sufficient for 12 hours of hold. If more frequent application is needed, we always recommend that you see your dentist to check the fit of your denture. Many people are able to eat all kinds of food and have their denture remain secure with a single application of Fixodent. I completely understand your frustration since you are unable to eat the foods you love even when using an adhesive. However, I just can’t recommend multiple applications since the products are not tested for this. I hope this answers your questions! I’ve passed your comments & suggestions on to our product team as well. Thanks for writing!

I tried getting through to a Fixodent for two days with no luck, so I wanted further clarification on Fixodent true feeling it has no zinc but your saying it can have zinc of .02 because it is produced in same plant that makes a Fixodent that contains zinc, its like someone with allergies to zinc shouldn't use this but then on the box its says its 12 percent more in this box of zinc then the others Fixodent that contains zinc? Very confusing...yes it does contain or it might contain and is the .02 above the zinc contained in Fixodent Food Seal Free, the box contains no information. I just need to know if the product true feel contains less zinc then the zinc Fixodent products or a trace maybe...somebody clarify an already confusing statement on box. For those using this look at the little symbols in fine print especially if you have zinc allergies. Clarify this for all of us. Thanks

No problem, Sandy! Fixodent Plus True Feel and Fixodent Neutral are our two no-zinc-added products. They contain .2% or less of zinc because of shared manufacturing lines, and this is only 12% of the amount of zinc in our other products.  In other words, Fixodent Plus True Feel may contain up to .2% zinc, but this is only 12% of the amount contained in products like Fixodent Food Seal Free (now called Fixodent Plus Gum Care). So, Fixodent Plus Gum Care has more zinc that our Fixodent Plus True Feel. Please let me know if that answers your question!

Yes it clears some up but when it says zinc free its really not and if someone is allergic to zinc they will buy this because on the package it says zinc free, unlike Secure which is zinc free. Its giving a false impression, thankfully two friends who are allergic that wanted to try this have held off. So the Plus Gum Care contains more then 12 percent. I do thank you for answering, someone should suggest a paper insert not tiny +.

Let's not dance around the topic here. ANY denture adhesive that contains zinc will adhere better simply because of it's chemical make-up.

Sometimes denture adhesives contain zinc to enhance adhesion. The zinc was part of a polymer salt that enhanced the product's adhesive properties. It's been replaced with a salt based on calcium, sodium and cellulose gum. So, yes, zinc free products will have decreased bonding capabilities.

The FDA has not found conclusive evidence that these problems result from using zinc-containing denture adhesive as instructed in the product labeling.

If you are afraid to or are uncertain of using products containing zinc, simply avoid them! Better yet, talk with your general practitioner and get his opinion based on your overall health status. Otherwise, if you want the secure hold the products (regardless of the brand name) with zinc will provide you, use them! But use them AS DIRECTED.

I use Fixodent with Scope because it works for me. I get up to 24+ hours of secure hold with this product. I use it as directed and I am not knowingly ingesting any other products that contain zinc.

Everyone will have a different opinion. Do your research and discover what will work best for you and what you are comfortable using.

Just MY opinion based on what I know.

GJ,

I don't have a reline. Still have my original immediates I got 02.02.15   I asked about a reline since everyone on here seems to be getting them but my dentist basically said, "If it's not broke, don't fix it".  I use the Fixodent with Scope ....according to directions and it works fine.

It isn't up to the dentist to dictate what you get or don't get. If you want a reline, then make sure it happens. I have a reline in the top, but not bottom. I am going to get the reline in the bottom to make them fit better. I also use the fixodent with scope and have not had that many problems, but the lowers do work loose sometimes and even if I used an entire tube (which I wouldn't), they don't always stay in place.

Padraig,

If your comment was meant for me, allow me to clarify...

I simply asked my dentist about relines - I didn't ask to have one done. And, I agree with him 100%. If it's not broken, don't try to fix it. I am doing great with just using adhesive for now. A reline typically lasts about 3 months and I can't justify the added expense when I don't have a need for it.

I have totally given up on Fixodent products. Tried them all. I'm now using zinc-free Super Poligrip which is great. Once a day application and it holds! Sorry, Fixodent. I had to apply 3-4 times/day.  Your products were not up to par!
