I'm going in at 9 this morning to have 21 extractions, mini implants and immediate dentures. Y'all pray for me and wish me luck. I'm so nervous I feel sick to my stomach. And I'm really thirsty too.

I sure hope they can fix these things. I can't close my mouth all the way and if I try to force it to close I look like I have a huge wad of something in my mouth. I have cried all evening and don't understand why I can't close my lips together

How are you doing, Katherine? I know it feels like to me my dentures are too large but then again I had to wait to heal 6 weeks before the dentures so wasn't used to anything in my mouth. Although it's been a few weeks and now just being able to close my mouth more. Maybe it's an adjustment.
I'm sorry you've been crying.  Are you able to contact the dentist who did the surgery/implants and see if they can help?

I'm going in at 10 this morning and hopefully they can help. I think it's just so thick and I'm not use to it. I haven't been able to eat yet, I can barely get my medicine down without choking

Sorry to hear that you are having issues already. Did they happen to put gauze in your mouth between the dentures? My dentist did, so I literally did have a wad of something between my teeth. It was to put pressure to stop the bleeding from extractions. The dentures will not fit nicely yet because of swelling, so that could be another reason. Make sure to rest, ice your face and take your pain meds. The swelling will subside in a few days and then you should be able to tell how the denture fits. Also, if your dentist didn’t give you a follow-up appt for today or tomorrow, call and get one or have someone else call for you since it could be difficult to speak right now. Wishing you the best and be assured that it does get better!

I'm going in today. And I really hope they can do something about it. I had gauze in the sides of my mouth yesterday and was hoping that was why I couldn't close my mouth. But I still can't close it

Katherine, I know how you feel. I was unable to purse my lips after I got my dentures. I felt like they were way too big for my mouth. It's been two months now and they fit a lot better. I've been in three times for adjustments and that's helped me out a lot. Give it some time and they will fit better. I will continue to pray for you too.

Thank you. Mine feel huge! My lips won't touch and they are buldging all around my mouth. I'm really hoping it gets better. So far the pain is manageable but the protruding denture is about to make me have a meltdown. My dentist today said he would correct any sore spots that arise but he would rather wait 3-4 weeks before he shaves any off the denture. I understand it, don't get me wrong, but this thing is huge!

I'm glad the pain is manageable but the protruding denture would make me have a meltdown.  I am so surprised they are going to wait 3-4 weeks. If it's too big for your mouth I'd hope they wouldn't wait.

I'm giving it until next week and if it's not fitting better I will go back in and see if they can do something for them. I seriously don't want to go out in public right now. This has really got me depressed, but I'm trying to remember that it really hasn't been that long since I've had it done. I was just hoping to have a pretty smile after going through this whole ordeal and these teeth are so big I feel like a cartoon character. Hopefully by Monday it will be much better. I have a checkup with the oral surgeon Monday and go back to my dentist Wednesday
