I just got my new full set of dentures yesterday. I have barely any problem with the bottoms. I couldn't keep the tops in yesterday for more than a minute without wanting to gag. Today I can handle it a bit longer but still not long at all. Any advice at all I know I can contact the dentist to see if they can be cut back, but I don't know if this is common and will get better or what.
I literally just got my top dentures at 1 pm today! No gagging, very comfortable in the back and i have an extremely small mouth. Aspen Dental, great dentist who really listened to my concerns before they were made. Last 2 teeth, the fangs, were pulled and chipping and filing sharp points from extractions a month ago and buku stitches. Definitely going to be sore spots below cheek bones. They should be able to trim and thin possibly at the back from other posts ive seen on YouTube videos.
I think you might be able to see the picture i posted. I got the comfy lytes because my mouth is super small so i needed them as thin and light as possible. I really like this Aspen, so far..im in alot of pain since it the extractions and denture was today, but they are comfortable so far, just need them shortened under the cheekbones because they are causing pressure. I think it just depends on the individual office. If you can't see the pic let me know and I will post it again.
Hi , when I got my uppers last month I had an awful gag reflex. I produced a ton of saliva and felt like I would throw up. My dentist has made several adjustments for comfort but he refused to shorten the palate. Thankfully he was right! Don't rush things. Once you cut the palate there is no going back and you need to wait several weeks to get used to them. In a few weeks you'll be surprised how much things will change. I didn't even wear my dentures for 2 weeks as I had a bone spur and needed to heal. I still struggle to eat but at least I have no pain and the gag reflex is gone thankfully. So give it some time, all the best,
