Using Fixodent more than once per day?

I have started using Fixodent, reading on the package that I can only use once per day. I get up early and by 3pm, my hold is exhausted. Has anyone used fixadent more than once a day, or is anyone aware of the consequences of using more than once per day?

THANKS FOR YOUR EAR!

I’m Karen, the Fixodent Community Manager. I know it must be frustrating if your dentures are slipping when it’s only 3 o’clock in the afternoon. Fixodent should only be applied once per day. Some factors that can affect the hold of a denture adhesive include medications you may be taking, the fit of your dentures, and your saliva flow. While all versions of Fixodent are designed to provide all day hold, it could be that another version of Fixodent will work better for you. We offer several different versions of Fixodent cream, including Fixodent Food Seal, which features a smaller nozzle so you can apply the cream in a continuous line instead of in strips. Alternately, if you haven’t already, you might want to give Fixodent Extra Hold a try.

I'll be sending you something in the mail so you can try another version of Fixodent. When you receive it, let me know how it goes!^Karen

I have to use fixodent 4 or 5 times a day. I just found out you are only supposed to use it once.
I can't afford to see a dentist. What do I do?

Hi Elizabeth,
I've been thru the same experience. Please try Secure. It has worked out very well for me when going by the directions. Don't use too much and don't eat for fifteen minutes after placing in denture. Works great!

I use it 3 times a day. Sometimes it just sets to the top of my mouth but not the teeth (painful).

Salt water slashing on me all day, plus im 80 miles out from shore so its either stay in the wheel house (no tips) or help customers.so i always eat bout noon, wash, rense, reapply then go back at it. I wear fishing shirts that have pockets so i just slip teeth into shirt pocket,go to the head,wash,dry,apply....boom back to work...

Hi Tuffguy, I had all my teeth, well I say all, but there were only mostly bits and pieces. About 22 in all, I had them pulled on the 12th
of this month. I'm a bit of a wuss so I paid the big bucks to have it done by an oral surgeon. I bought my dentures from "Affordable Dentures",
I got the economy model so they were only $795. I still have my first set and am still getting used to having a mouthful of hardware. But I
am not eating with them yet, so I have to take them out to eat. I usually use fixodent a couple of times a day. I work midnights, so since
my mouth is still real tender I onlywear the top plate, for smiling don't ya know. So using fixodent more than once works for me so I'd say
go ahead and use it as much as you want. I think that "you only need it once a day" thing is merely a marketing tool. good luck with yours.

I got my top teeth pulled and a set of " temporary" dentures in for 6 months from "AFFORDABLE DENTURES". They were horrible and my mouth was horrible. I couldn't take them out for 3 days and then only at night. Now I have the permanent set on top and I am doing much better with these. I just don't know whether to wear them all the time or not and how often do I clean them other than brushing.

You should probably take your teeth out and soak them every "night'. I use the term night loosely since many people work 2nd or 3rd shift, so their "nights" might start at 7 am.

Your gums need to rest and you want your teeth to stay clean. I don't always leave my teeth in the solution all night, I currently have a 15-minute soak, so when they have sat in there for awhile I just soak them in cold water and usually a little NON ALCOHOL mouthwash for flavor. I like the Crest ProHealth clear or very, very light blue. And for soaking I only put 1/4 to 1/3 cap full in with the water..

You can wear your teeth longer, especially if they are adhered well. But you would still want to brush them with denture toothpaste and extra soft brush.

Good luck!

My husband had bone splinters. Had to back and have them removed. Does it feel like you're being stabbed when you try to wear them?

Maybe it's because of the zinc? That's just a guess on my part, but it's a good question.

I have to redo my at least three times a day. They will not stay in, even when I have not eaten anything.  Top one are great do not use anything. Bottom ones I have tried just about every thing on market.

Thanks for asking, Rick. Our scientific research shows that the amount of zinc an average user absorbs from Fixodent is approximately 2 mg. It is important to use denture adhesives as directed. Excessive and prolonged zinc intake is reported to be associated with serious health problems. Consult a doctor if using other products containing zinc to make sure you are using safe amounts per day.

We do offer a zinc free option, if that is a concern of yours. Fixodent Neutral has no zinc added, while still guaranteeing a great fit and strong hold. Fixodent Neutral guarantees the same great fit and strong hold as Fixodent Original. Its comfortable adhesive seal lets you talk, eat, drink, and laugh with confidence!

When you say "reported to be associated with serious health problems", would you please provide a link to the research that that assertion is based on? Thank you.
